community of which this year there
are eight and we send our outstand
ing boy and girl to the summer

Our first activity of the year was
a joint meeting with our community
club at the home of Mrs. T M. Lowe
at Mitchell Butte where we listened
to reports from the 4-H young peo
ple who had recently returned from
the summer school. We were nicelq
served with refreshments by the
cooking clubs of the community

school children
Our money making enterprises for
the year were as follows: In the tall

bers of our organization and dona

fund, and we made arrangements
for the showing of a play from an

We helped with the Christmas

tumes for the play. W e also pur
chased material and had made a

house. W e bought one hundred cups
for P. T. A. and school use.
W e co-operated with the Ameri
can Legion Auxiliary In giving help
to those In need in the neighbor

Along Educational lines we listen
ed to a program commorating Edu
cation and Book week, a talk on
books by our county librarian ana

bers. We contributed to the M c
Laughlin Memorial fund and the
presidents traveling fund. Both
county councils for the year were
attended by our teachers, our pre
sident and several additional mem
bers. Our president and two mem
bers attended the Parent Teacher
school held in Ontario by State pre
sident Mrs. Walls and National sec
retary Mrs. Roe. Educational pic
tures including several on 4-H work
were shown through the year. Our
members helped at the summer
round-up and a vacination clinic
and we are glad to know that ap
proximately all the children of the
school are now immune from small
pox.
Perhaps the high light of our year
was the Founders Day services in
which we also wished to honor our
instigator and very loyal supporter
o f the P. T. A. work in our com
munity as well as the entire section
of eastern Oregon, a former state
vice president Mrs T. M. Lowe. In
using the candle lighting ceremony
Mrs. Lowe was asked to light the
first candle from which the seven
others were lighted as a fitting sym
bol of the start and continuation of
her work here.
W e have splendid workers in our
unit and have had the co-operation
o f our community. We feel that
time and effort in the work have
been well spent We also have the
satisfaction of known the 4-H Union
Pacific scholarship was awarded to
a young lady in our district. We
feel that we are well organized and
ready for a better year to come.
