An all day meeting of the King- man Kolony Irrigation company was held at the school house Saturdo- The purpose of this meeting was to change by vote from the King.no. Di ch company to the Owyhee com pany. This was accomplished ano Kingman Kolony Is now under the government management. The annual Hallowe'en party giv en Friday evening was very well a t tended. The four rooms of th» school contributed to the evenin;: program and refreshments were served by the P.T A. which sponsor the Halloween party. On Thursday evening delegations from Wade and Owyhee districts met at Kingman for a joint meet- of the Christian Endeavor society A pot luck supper was served, fol lowed by the evening program ol which Miss Lucille Thrasher had charge. A special number for Wade was sung by Mrs. Roy Nlckens and a group song was sung by members of Owyhee’s young people. Rev. Chandler of Caldwell was present, also Mr. Dyer, who Is dis trlct president, and Mrs. Dyer. Thr main speaker for the evening was Mr. Myrp, a state official In thb work. Mrs Elsie Welsh and Miss Wilma Colwell presented a program of plays, stunts and games at a Hal loween party held at Wade school house Friday evening, which were •reatly enjoyed by a'l present. Pies and coffee were sold at close of program and about seven dollars added to PTA treasury. In a word making contest Betty Jean Eachus was prize winner and Keith Eachus won prize for the best costume. Van de Water of Wilder spent Sunday afternoon at Haworth home. Orandma Betts passed away Mon day afternoon, a t the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Irma Hopkins In Roswell. She has suffered with diabetes fer a number of years. Two children, Mrs. Cecil Bond and Leo Betts, several grand children and two great grand childrren, besides a host of friends mourn her passing The sympathy of this community where she has made her home for a number of years Is extended to ber eaved relatives. Frank Halns, Jr., threshed at the Haylett ranch last Tuesday. Fred Haylett and Jess Yutrraspe took a load of wheat to Caldwell Wednesday and brought back a lead of coal. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baltzor, Mr. Carter and H. E. Baltzor and Miss Flfer attended a party at the Hin ton home on Succor Creek Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haylett, Mrs. D. H. Haylett and Chas. Falen, Jr. went to Jordan Valley Saturday evening to the school program and carnival. Deer hunters are very much In evidence and seem to be having good luck as most cars have from one to five deer on them. Mrs. D. H. Haylett, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haylett and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Haylett of Homedale were visitors a t Ontario Monday, to a t tend a truck owners meeting called by the public utilities commission. The I.O. N. Grange will hold its annual election of officer^ at their Friday night meeting. The H.E.C. will hold their regular meeting at the home of Mrs Mattingly at Rock ville Saturday and will held their election. Mrs. Kathryn Claypool, county superintendent and Mrs. Edna F ar ris, health nurse, visited the Shea- vllle school Monday. They plan to visit all the schools in this end of the county on this trip. Harold Masonolder has been gath* emg his cattle and sold them at the Caldwell sales Thursday. JORDAN VALLEY By MRS ISABELLE LEE Mr. and Mrs. Horace Dunning of Homedale who have been spending a few days here returned home Tuesday. John Boehmer who has been em ployed by Wm. Maher for a number of years left for California Satur day on the ION stage. Dominga Yturria was a Boise visitor during the week, returning Thursday. Ben Mills and Oerad Wiseman of Junlpter Mountain attended the sale at the Blssett place Friday. They left for Boise Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Garrity of Nampa were week end ¿bests at the Ed. Maher home. The pday and carnival given by the grade school children Saturday- night was very successful and a good sum was realized. It was held In the high school gym. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McCain farm- erly of Jordan but now residing in Portland spent the last ten days here visiting friends and attending to business Interests. While here they disposed cf their town property. Mr and Mrs. McCain and Mrs. McCain's mother, Mrs. Annie Nichols left for Portland Monday Mrs Nichols plans to spend the winter with her grandson and fam ily, Ernest McCain. Austin Bissett and his sister Miss Leila were overnight guests In town en route to their new home in Nampa. Halloween passed very quietly here. It is certanly a big step in the right direction and the community is proud cf the ’Halloweeners” this year. Miss Anna Elordia daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Damso Elordi, Sr., and John Lotts were married In Caldwell last Saturday and on their return Monday a dance and chivari was given for them. The happy couple left for the construction camp Tuesday where Mr. Lott Is em ployed. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wood and Mrs. Emma Wood of Cour deAlene, Idaho spent Sunday and Monday calling on former friends and neighbors. Mr. Wood and his mother Mrs. Em ma Wocd spent one year here on their ranch, now leased by E. P. Oheen. Sunday they were dinner guests at the M. L. Judd home and Monday night at the E. P.- Oheen home in Ontario. They returned Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Overstreet, Jr., and baby of Boise spent Sunday at the M. L. Judd home. Mr. and Mrs. Overstreet. Sr., are making their home at the Judds until their house Is completed. The M. L. Kurtz family enjoyed callers Sunday afternoon. They were friends from Ten Davis. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Sebree and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Andrews, Mrs. Jane Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. John Pritchard. Mr. and Mrs. Jim New port also Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Long of Nampa. The Kurtz family the starting their basement house. Monday they motored to Nampa looking at fix tures. Hullers are still busy in the neigh borhood but this week will find them through. Refreshments at Sale Yard— The refreshment booth at the Saturday Sales yard has been taken over by the Ladies Aid of the Methodist church who are planning on furnishing bigger and better refreshments In a bigger and bet ter booth. Miller was a visitor cf Frank McCarty the latter part of the week. The basket ball game played at Lincoln with Valley View resulted In a score of fourteen to four for Val ley View boys and the Lincoln girls won six to four. Mr. Ernest Wood and Mr. Leo Christenson of Utah are visiting at the George Markham home. George McCarty has started beet digging. Miss Fern Rookstoel visited Miss Aines and Opal Redsul on Sunday. Jim Sloan of Boise visited his mother Mrs. James Alexander at the home of Mr and Mrs. Erskine Brooks. The pie social held by the Lincoln P.T.A. was a big success. The total sum raised by the sale of the pies was forty eight dollars and seventy cents, the largest price for any one pie being fourteen dollars. The old organ was also sold fer four and a half dollars all of which will be ap- pled to the debt on the newly pur chased piano. The P. T. A. and committees wish to thank all of those who attended and so generously supported the en tertainment.
