The occasion also honored Mr. Otto Schwetz?r’s 80 h birthday. Covers at dinner were laid for 38 guests, with all being seated at one large table. Those present were Mr. Otto Sch- weizer, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Warren gave a pinochle party Wednesday night in honor of her husbands birthday. Three tables of cards were in play with Mrs. Ed Pruyn and Mr. C. J. Keizer winning high score awards; Mrs. Roy War­ ner and Mr. Pruyn, consolation; and Mrs. Pruyn had the traveling prize at the end of the card play. A mid­ night lunch closed a pleasant even­ ing. - 5 - WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOURSOME Mrs. A. B. Heise entertained the Wednesday night foursome. Guests playing with members were Mrs. Frank Hall, Mrs. Dewey Ray, Mrs. Sid Burbidge and Mrs. James Dael- hausen. Mrs. Artie Robertson held high score for the members and Mrs. Hall for the guests. - 5 - BRIDGE PARTIES On Friday and Saturday Mrs. Bert Llenkaemper and Mrs. Leslie M c­ Clure entertained at the home of Mrs. McClure with a desert bridge. Four tables were in play each day and a dainty prize was won for high score at each table at the end of the JORDAN VALLEY By MRS ISABELLE LEE Marion and Preston Wroten and their mother Mrs. Mary S. Wroten left for a two weeks business and pleasure trip to California Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Maher of Cliffs returned home from Boise Wednesday where Mr Maher at­ tended a grazing board meeting Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Staples ac­ companied Mr. and Mrs. Maher on their return and were given a chivari by their young friends Wed­ nesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gluch and Mrs. Joe Gluch were shopping in Caldwell Tuesday. Purl Hardisty of Meridian spent a few days here attenlng to business matters and visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Staples left Thursay to visit relatives in Calif­ ornia. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Staples are caring for the ranch during their absence. Tim Lequerica is reported quite ill at his heme. Curtis Jones of Eugene is spend­ ing a few days with his father Dr. W. W. Jones. Gus Azcuenaga attended his sis­ ter’s funeral in Nampa last week. Misses Pilar and Azueada Corta- bartarte are spending a few days in Boise. Gus Greeley of Succor Creek was brought to town Saturday suffering from a dislocated arm. Mr. Oreeley had a runaway with his team and became entangled In the lines and was thrown to the ground. Dr. Jones attended him and he was able to go to his home Monday. Saturday night the Ditch com­ pany had a dragline come In to clean the feeder canal from the headgate in the W. S. Maher field to the Antelope reservoir. Mrs. Carl Fretwell who has been til for the past week is able to be up again. Mrs. George S. Parks was hostess at a delightful bridge party last Wednesday. Plans were made to or­ ganise a bridge club for the winter. Mrs Emma Clarke spent the week end at Mrs. Marion Wrotens. M. Stephensen of Saltern, state bridge engineer and C. A. Jordan and Mervln Moore, bridge engineers from Ontario were up Wednesday looking over the bridge work on Jor­ dan Creek. Mrs. Emma Wall and Morris Al- worth drove to Caldwell Friday and were married. Judge Riordan per­ forming the ceremony. They return­ ed home Sunday their many friends met at one of the local holla play. Those winning on Friday were Mrs. A. B Heise, Mrs. W. F. Mrs. Ed Warren took consolation prize and Mrs. Geo. Benton won the traveling prize. Shiva Temple, wooded plateau in the Grand canyon which haa been explored by man for the first time in history. An expedition headed by Dr. Harold E. Anthony scaled the hitherto unreachable island in the sky to study animal life believed to have been isolated for thousands of years. A hunter who stopped to pass the time of day with Mr. Lowe touched the wire and got a good bite, almost simultaneously h i s companion touched the wire with no reaction which caused Mr. Lowe to become concerned as to the effectiveness of his fence whereup he tried it him­ self also with no reaction. He be­ came quite excited and immediately went to headquarters in Ontario with the information, but upon dis­ covering the men who were immune to shock were wearing rubber boots nothing drastic resulted.
