Verily, Sistem, we did think it was the town hall. So many of the stronger sex had gathered there to collect our mail, to pause, to pass the time of day and to give and get the latest news and chat ter. We did think what a grand place for a damsel who was minded to collect unto herself a husband for better or worse. For while the most among them be bendicts tried and proven true, for lo, these many years, still there were in the midst of these several presentable males who have yet escaped the nuptial noose. Our gaze dids’t fall upon the town’s youngest attorney, th at tall and neatly set up Carl Coad and we did think how nicely some wise vir gin could halter break him. Then there was that Ed Dllly of the Idaho Power and Electric, brown eyed and of handsome mien. Be not fooled, ye young ones, he is not too bashful and too long has he roam ed foot loose and fancy free. Fie up on you, little sistem, ere long they will become halter shy and ye— ye will be old maids. These be only two but our City does provide many ethers of various sizes and shapes. One to fit each girl’s desire. Like the old maid said when she kissed the cow. From the Post Office dids’t hie us along the Market Place and there did spy the smiling face of Ernest Wilson, so dids't enter his emporium to bid him "Gocd Morning” and to see what he might have th at was new and different. There was on display some lovely knitted suits for little girls as cozy and warm as the wool on a spring lambs back. Then dids’t discover Ernest's long md lanky brother Barney splcctng •ip his grocery store and didst enter there to learn what new edibles from the feur corners of the earth he had recently placed upon his shevles, and he did show us a gocdly lot of salad dressings and meat sauces and prepared relishes and pickles as fine as ever I did see. Later didst snoop out Little Reddy Kilowat In his new home at the Idaho Power and Electrical Com pany’s new store, and while there did chat awhile with Bernard Frost who did demonstrate for us a new electrical stove. A beauty of all white which will do all the cooking for you. It does all but talk and think, and its low operating cost did surprise us. Next dcor to this, as ye all know is our new drug store. That Owyhee Drug Company and If perchance some day thou doest tarry too long from thine own fire side so that theu doest fear that they family will go desertless for their dinner, cheer up. Stop at the Owyhee Drug Company and get some of that grand Owyhee Maid ice cream that they do make right there with the very latest and most sanitary equip ment. Then thou wilt get no growl from thine sp:use and thy children will be properly vitimlned. Now speaking of growls from thy husband, if thou cans’t but get him to take thee once a week to those two fine shews. The Roxy or the New Pix in our sister city Ontario, there will be no growls for there they da show things to cheer one ard to put us In tune with our w:rld again. This paper does tell thee what each is showing each week. Was thy .husband's day ruined last Sunday. Did he run out of shells and all the stores were closed and he didn’t get his limit? TeU him to buck up for It need never happen again. The Nyssa Pharmacy is now dispensing the Western Super X shells that he can purchase any day and half the night, because so many men asked Clem for them. But do’nt be focled. Sistem, that new blond pharmacist in there is married. Now we do know very little about the number of carloads of this and that the Union Pacific does haul ever its tracks, neither of the my riads of other ways that it serves this community but one thing we do know that for real train comfort and train courtesy they cannot be beat en. Also this day Mr. Wllllard Jack- sen did tell us, that now that the President had come and gone and he he could again call both his time and his soul his own he did learn that he still had a lumber yard fre n whence they do dispense coal and that there is no order so small nor so large that they cannot fill. And that this also is true of building needs of all kinds. Speaking again of building needs there be one of our heme town boys who does fine wiring, Harry Sales Give him a chance at your next job. Ah, verily, verily, tis window washing and house cleaning time again and without care thy hands will come cut of it looking like two well smoked hams. But if thou wilt but get thee some of those house hold rubber gloves th at Mrs. John son Is selling at the Variety Stcre, then ye will fool’em at the next bridge game. Too, this be the time to look for ward to slippery roads and you will be wondering how much longer the “Old Heap’s’ 'tires will hold out. See Eddie at the O.K. Tire Shop, he fixes them up. Again there be several gas dispen saries in Nyssa. but none better than Art Norcott a t Third and Main or his cotemporaries at the Powell Ser vice across the street, and there they do sell automobile accessories of every sort so that thou may feel safe to drive in rain or shine. Ye Snooper does hate to harp up on cne subject but at Eders we did see again th at fine Norge heater. But if thy purse feels meek and flat there is another less expensive that will warm thy domicile in godly fashion. And have ye perchance heard that the Amalgamated Sugar Company is to build a fine new factory in our town and th a t It is up to us to use bigger and better beet sugar. Then hie ye to the Baldridge Implement Company and get a set of the new pyrex cookers even to coffee pots that yell feel that ye must own im mediately. What with winter winds and hot stoves Just ahead of us one never nows, so insure, insure. Insure, Sure that's what they tell us and sure they be right as we all do learn when that accident or fire catches up with us and we be flat broke. Then ye'll be glad if ye have already consulted The Nyssa Realty or Frank Morgan. They are always glad to help you get the most for your money. Insure new and keep It paid up. So did meet up with a most gen ial person, Mr. A1 Thompson with his genial son Herschel, who do run the Thompson seed and fuel com pany. And there they do also deal in grains and seeds of many var ieties. and I do hear that the coal that they do sell is warm burning and long lasting. Hast thou, our sistem, tasted of the fine dishes and meats that the Nyssa Packing company is now dis pensing. No need to long for a big city market with this shop in our midst. Whatever one may wish for “Butch” has or can get shortly. We do be lucky there. Doest thou fear that a devil had a hand In thine angel cake when after all thy labors thou didst take It out—fallen as the dark angel. Weep not nor labor so again for the McClure brolhers do make these cakes as light and as sweet as an angel's breath. And there is never a failure when you need one most. Ye Snooper didst spy out Dwight Smith at the Boise Payette Lumber Company and he did tell her things she did not know about building. Whether thine abode be hot or cold depends much upon of what it be bullded and if ye but search him out he will tell ye how to figure on the TO CON TRA CTO RS Bids wil be received at the office of the Nyssa Gate City Joumay fcr the leveling of half Mock of city lots. Bids must be in writing and signed by contractor.
