R. Lofton last Wednesday when a shower was giv en for Mrs. Vernon Laurence a re cent bride. She received many beautiful gifts. "Die hostess served a delicious lunch at the close. Robert DeArmond and Verla [ Prescott of Vale visited here Sun- ! day. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lofton and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd White were ; Unity visitors last Sunday. A large crowd attended the dance on the 19th sponsored by the Com munity Club and a Jolly good time enjoyed by everyone. The Park Simmons and Self fam ilies left Saturday morning for New Meadows to work through the pea harvest. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Orabner of Prairie City were dinner guests Thursday of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Orabner. At the annual school election last Monday Mrs. Raleigh Van Buren was reelected director and Mrs. Or ville Nichols reelected clerk. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Elms returned Monday from a visit with relatives at Boise and Fruitland. Mrs. Oscar Hardman and daugh ter Cleta of Unity attended the shower for Mrs. Vernon Lawrence last Wednesday. Misses Margaret and Iris How ard of the East Bench near Vale have been visiting their father Floyd Howard. Mrs. Taylor of Brogan has been visiting at the home of her daugh ter Mrs. Carlos Lofton. Jchn Westfall, Mrs. Henry West- fall and daughter Julia of Ontario visited at the Bud Sherman home last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Laurance and daughter June of Vale were week end guests at the Elmer Molthan home and also attended the dance. Locey Brothers and Howards haul ed their lambs out by truck last week to Brogan for shipment. Hay and grain crops are looking much better since the recent rainy spell. Several farmers are cutting some hay but the haying In general will not start until about the 10th of July owing to the lateness of the season.
