The date of first publication is June 10, 1937, and the date of last pub lication will be July 8, 1937. CARL H. COAD, Plaintiff Residing at Nyssa, Oregon. In most purchases you make, you can afford to experiment with qual ity. If you don’t get your money’s worth one time, you know what to avoid the next time you buy. But when you build a home . . . that’s different! You will probably build one, and that one for KEEPS. You can’t afford to experiment with the quality of materials you use. That’s why wise builders every where are specifying 4-SQUARE Lumber in home construction. The reason lies in refinements in manufacture. EXACT LENGTHS Every piece of 4-SQUARE Lumber is cut to EXACT standard le n g th at the mill, a feature not found in ordinary lumber. When a standard length is needed, the carpenter knows that 4-SQUARE is ready to use without trimming;. For example, there are some 260 studdings m the average house. So you order 250 eight-foot 4-SQUARE studs. All your carpenter has to do is put them in place. He wastes none of your time getting ready to build. Exact le n g th s also avoid loss from over-order ing, and prevent loss of time from under-ordering. SQUARE ENDS Ordinary lumber is not squared at the ends. It must be trimmed by hand, wasting time and lum ber, both of which cost you money. 4-SQUARE Lumber is scientifically squared and smoothed on both ends at the mill. Each piece will make a tight joint without further squaring. Framing members get full bearing. Because of this feature, 4-SQUARE homes not only go ’up faster, saving labor, but produce sounder and stronger structure. THOROUGHLY SEASONED Lumber, when first cut, is “green.” It contains too much moisture. If used in this condition, shrink age and warpage will play havoc with the struc ture later on. Every piece of 4-SQUARE Lumber is thor oughly seasoned at the mill in modern dry kilns, or by approved air drying processes. It is tested for moisture content. When it arrives on your job, it is in prime condition. By using 4-SQUARE, you minimize later costly repairs and annoyances caused by uneven settling of the frame, sagging and squeaking floors, wall cracks, balky windows, and other defects. 4-SQUARE means lower upkeep, and hence lower final cost. MANY OTHER SUPERIOR REFINEMENTS The entire milling and handling process of 4-SQUARE Lumber is designed to put a BETTER lumber into your home. Finishing woods are packaged, or the ends and faces protected. Many items are plainly marked for specie and for grade so that you can SEE what you’re buy ing without being a lumber expert. Last of all, every piece of 4-SQUARE is plainly marked on the end with the 4-SQUARE trademark, your guarantee that the lumber is exactly as it is represented to be.
