OW YHEE Mrs. Charles Schweizer was the bearer Saturday of the beautiful blooming potted flowers to Mrs. Tom Lowe at Mitchell Butte Hot Springs. They were the gifts of the Nyssa American Legion Auxiliary for Mother's Day. Also on Mother’s Day, Mrs. Browne and Mrs. Lar­ sen of the Nyssa Legion Auxiliary brought more plants for outdoor planting. Mrs. Lowe is the only Gold Star Mother of the Nyssa Auxiliary. Wm. Glenn McGinnis has fin­ ished painting the pipe on the North Canal to Weiser, so Irrigat­ ing by water from the dam began In that section Monday. May 10. A short program in commemorat­ ion cf Mother's Day was given at the close of Sunday School, Sun­ day morning. The pregram included two songs by the young people; violin solo by Mrs. Silas Bigelow; duet "Songs My Mother Used to Sing,” Doris and Margaret Kling- back. Mrs. Lee Culbertson called on Mrs. Fred Boness, who lives on the old McMinley ranch Sunday after­ noon. Mrs. Nell Dimmick was hostess for a bridge party Thursday after­ noon. Mrs. Andrew Boersma won the high prize and Mrs. Grant Koons received the consolation. Miss Emily Corfield was married to Charles Meyers Sunday after­ noon at 4 o'clock by Reverend White of Nyssa. Relatives and close friends of the family were guests. A charivari was given for the young couple Monday evening. A 7H pound boy was bom to Mr and Mrs. Carl Jungquist of Wilder. Mrs. Tom Whitly of Cliffs was thrown from her horse Tuesday and had to be brought to town for med­ ical attention. She was able to re­ turn home Sunday. While In town she was a guest at the W. J. Shea home. Mrs. T. L. Skinner is having her house remodeled. Clarence Ander­ son Is doing the work. Mrs. Kathryn Claypool, county school superintendent and D. A. Emerson, member of the state de­ partment of education in charge of high schools, visited the Union High school Thursday. The high school directors met after school and listened to a very interesting talk by Mr. Emerson. Afterwards the party inspected the new gym th at is being constructed. W. S. Maher came from Boise Monday and Is over seeing the spring work on his ranch east of town. W. R. Helm returned Saturday from a weeks visit in Boise. The home of Mrs. Everett Fret- well in Arock was the scene of a very pleasant gathering when members of the Ladles Aid drove from town and surprised her with a miscellaneous shower. She receiv­ ed many beautiful and useful gifts. The guests also furnished a de­ licious lunch. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
