Following this the chapters put on the various nharcs cf werk. with Ontario hav ing the opening and closing work and the presentation of gifts; Nys- •i put on the balloting and intro duction of guests; and Vale put on initiation. About thirty from the Nyssa chapter attended. Should the unexpected happen, and the run-off be light next year, the water now stored in the reservoir would be ample to also mature 19,18 crops. ELLIOTT Mr. Clarence Bowling of Colorado arrived here Wednesday and will farm the land formally owned by Mr. Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Patterson, who have been living in the Bowling house have moved to the tenant house on the C. E. Winters farm. The Weiser sheep company moved their sheep this week from the C. M. Beauinant ranch to their range in Idaho. Wednesday was the regular meet ing day of the Jolly Anna’s at the home of Mrs. C. C. Cotton Mrs. D. C. Duvall assisted with the serving of refreshments. A baseball game was played Thursday between the 5th grade boys and the girls of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Pinal scores were 13 to 21 in the girls favor. About twenty young people at tended a lovely party at the home of Martha Godwin. Games were greatly enjoyed by all. Miss Colleen Connaughy who has been attending school in Owyhee is again enrolled in Kingman. Mrs. Frank Newbill and Mrs. Charles Newbill attended the fun eral of Mr. Floyd Tolleth at Mer idian Thursday. Mr. Tolleth was a brother-n-law of Mrs. Frank New bill. J. Edwin Johnson of Vale was in Kingman on business Monday. Floyd Zesiger purchased a new Ford V-8 in Ontario Thursday. Most all of the members of the grange were present at their reg ular meeting Monday evening. Mrs. Oscar Schafer had a very enter taining lecturers' hour. Mrs. Allen Curtis and Mrs. Floyd Zesiger save two instrumental numbers and very interesting topics wtle leiad by Mr. George Kaylor and Mrs. Petterson. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Fitzpatrick of Boise and Mr. and Mr. Billings of Caldwell were Sunday visitors in the John Oowey home. Mrs. Fitzgerald is a sister of Mrs. Oowey and Mr. and Mrs. Bilings are her father and mother. Mrs. Conrad Martin was hostess to the members of the HEC Tues day afternoon. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Clifford Snyder. Word was received this week by M. E. M. Hauser from Mr. Seymour that the date for Rural Life 4-H club Sunday will be held May 2nd instead of April 25th as announced last week. Miss Crummett demonstrated on Monday evening for "The World's Best Cooks” division II of 4-H cook ing. the making of an angel food cake. The girls are beginning the practice of making their cakes. Rev. erend Chandler of Caldwell attend ed here Sunday and gave a very interesting talk on foreign missions. He had with him Mr. Skidmour of Caldwell. Mr. Skidmcur held an evening service and is expected back for another service next Sun day. The superintendent wishes to extend an invitiation to everyone to attend. The electric power line has been extended to the John Thiel and J. G. Lane homes this week. Mrs. Lane is having a new electric range and refrigerator installed. Friday, May 14 has been set as a definite date for the ice cream social. The program will consist of music. No admission will be charg ed. The profits received from the sale of Ice cream and cake will be used in the 4-H club fund. LIN CO LN NEWS By MRS. ED DUPRE Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Woods have left for Portland to make their home after living on the Hartley ranch for the past year. Their son Ncrman is staying with Mr. Whit Redsul to finish his senior year of school. Mr. Coulp and family will be the new occupants c f the ranch Mr. and Mrs. Bliss were Saturday visitors at the home of C. L. Carson. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were visit ors at the Ed DuPre home on Mon day evening. The Lincoln school Girl Scouts have cleaned several yards In the district to raise funds for their treasury. Miss Virginia DuPre was a sup per guest of her parents on Satur day evening. Wm. McElroy is building a home and getting settled on the new pro ject land. Miss Ellen and Mable Hopper were Sunday visitors of Thelma Du Pre Sunday. All made a trip to the top of Malheur Butte. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gluck, Bas Deary. Mrs. Wm. Shea and daugh ter Teresa spent a few days in Boise last week. Mrs. Deary returned with them Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Birming ham were in town Wednesday en route to their home at Flint after spending the winter in Marsing. They found the roads east of town so bad they returned to Marsing and will come back next week. Joe Yturraspe and Sam Scott went to Boise Wednesday for a lead of machinery for Mr. Scott’s store. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wroten April 9. Miss Louisa Astoreca of Boise is visiting Miss Mary Mallea. Word was received Saturday of the death of W. A. Stone, 72. Mr. Stone died Friday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ernest Fenwick on the Middle Fork of the Owyhee. The body was taken to Caldwell Saturday accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Fenwick and Sam Scott. Mr. Stone at one time was a prominent attorney of Caldwell practicing there for about thirty years. Of late years he has made his home with his daughter while she lived in Jordan and then on the Middle Fork. Funeral services were held in Caldwell Monday at the Presbyterian church.
