THE GATE CITY JOURNAL VOLUME XXV. NO. 6. M r our NEW ASSESSING LAW NYSSA, OREGON, KUIOAY. MAR Slate ‘ S E X * EXCESS EANO (From the Malheur Enterprise.) “It isn’t the money that you put into a commercial club that helps to improve its condition, Mr. Business Man, but what counts is the time and effort you devote to the interests of your community with an organ ized group.’’ This was the sub stance of a talk made by W. G. Ide, manager of the State Cham ber of Commerce, who was en tertained with luncheon at the Drexel Hotel Monday noon. After the luncheon he looked over the dredge operations with H. Jackson Perry, secretary of the club. There he exclaimed at the apparent richness of the land. He marvelled at the op portunities that are in store for Malheur county with the devel- J; men; of the Val‘- and Owyhee projects. Mr. Ide promised the cooperation of the state cham ber in a land settlement pro pram. He left early for Ontario where he hold a similar meeting with business men. —--------------------- 1 -----* 1927. UND OFFICE Hi VALE MAY CLOSE EXECUTIVE O R D E R BECOMES EFFECTIVE ON JUNE 30 SAYS ADVICE THURSDAY $1.50 I'EK YEAR PHEASANT HEN OPENS SEASON 2 MONTHS EARLY A Brogan pheasant hen has the world’s record for rushing the season. For the first time in the history of the Oregon state game department, a China pheasant hen has hatched her young in the early part of March. Charles McCLees was astounded by the report which came from Stanley Woodward, Brogan merchant, and he has notified state game officials. Nearly every day for the past week the proud mother pheasant has strutted into the Woodward yard with a flock of thirteen baby birds trailing around her. Mr. Woodward has been able to count them and is watching them with a great deal of in terest. The Brogan hen is two months ahead of the usual hatching time. Mr. McClees said Wednesday that eggs have been found on the Idaho side this early in the year. LEGISLATIVE RECORO OF REP.
