m onths of Novem ber, D ecem ber. J a n ­
uary and F e b ru a ry show ed a n av erag e
of 51.42 eggs fo r th e first group, 38.85
for th e second, 15.39 fo r th e th ird , and
only 3.28 fo r th e very la te -m a tu rin g
group.
In th e follow ing fo u r sp rin g m onths
th e difference w as still m arked, but
n ot so g re a t. T h e a v e ra g e fo r th e
different gro u p s w ere 90.65 fo r th e
first group, 73.93 fo r th e second, 67.82
for th e th ird , an d 35.44 fo r th e fo u rth .
In th e fo u r m o u th s of Ju ly , A ugust,
S ep tem b er a n d O ctober, w hich com­
pleted th e y e a r's te s t, th e re s u lts w ere
ag ain decidedly In fav o r o f th e early
m a tu rin g birds. T h e a v e ra g e s w ere
75.43 fo r th e first group, 60.89 fo r th e
