The funds of depositors are not protected with a single mortgage
but with all owned by tfce Association. There is no better secu
rity than many small, sound mortgages on improved heme prop
erty.
Mr. Herbert Hoovei, Sa retary of the
United States Department of Com
merce, says:
“ Your associations, true people’s
banks, popularly control'ed and lo
eally managed, have sprung up vol
untarily throughout the country.
Through the system of weekly or
monthly deposits by their share holders
they encourage thrift thruout the
nation. Tbroagh the system of amor
tization, in which the building and
loan associations ware the pieneevB.
they have made their asset* sound sod
worthy at confidence. Through loan*
principally upon homes they ere an
instrumentality not only in solving the
housing problem, but in developing
self reliance in oar citiaenry.
"It is my earnest desire that tha

The State of Oregon holds all mortgagee of the Association as
an abaoiute protection to all depositors. THERE IIAS NOT
BEEN A DOLLAR LOST IN EASTERN OREGON IN 35
YEARg UNDER THIS PLAN
This plan of saving and loaning money is ICO years old. The
Savings & Loan Associations were the originators of the amorti
zation loan system, which is the basis of the Federal I.and Bank
Loan System. They are the fosterers of the greatest thrift sys
tem which has ever been evolved. Today more than seven million
Americans have deposited with this associations the tremendous
sum of four billions of dollars.
WHAT A SAVINGS & LOAN ASSOCIATION MEANS TO
YOUR COMMUNITY.
—It creates thrift araeng those who are not now SAVERS.
—It gives the ambitious man or woman in your oommunity a con*
venient way to home ownership and all the pleasures that a home
makes possible.
—It provides work for the building trades, business for the
building material concerns. It brings prosperity to the Merchant,
the doctor, the lawyer. It builds solid pi ogress for the commu
nity and everyone who lives and labors among you.
