OFFICIALS To make a hurried inspection of the Warmsprings irrigation district before going to Washington to pre sent the claims for reclamation for Oregon before the budget committee, Senator Charles L. McNary was in Vale Wednesday afternoon for a few hours. He was given facts and figures of the proposal presented by the district to the reclamation ser vice and was taken by officers of the district over parts of it to obtain some understanding of its physical character. Senator McNary expressed himself a being very well pleased with the district and its prospects for success as an enlarged federal project. The remarkable economic reasons for its further development such as soil and and climate proper altitude and the transportation facilities impressed him as conditions which should carry a reat deal of weight with the re clamation department officials. Senator McNary had practically nothing to say about politics on this trip. “ I have come to Vale to find out how 1 can best assist you people in securing what you want,” said Sen- aloe McNary, “ I am sorry my time is so limited I cannot sec all of my old friends in this distreit. You may say to them that I shall return to Vale before long and stay long enought to meet them all.” The senior Senator will return to Washington the last of this month and present arguments for Oregon projects hefon Secretary Work, of the Interior department, and the di rector o f ‘ lie ' ">lge‘ OWYHEE $1.50 PER YEAR NYSSA, OREGON.
