As a result of the activity o f the committee in charge o f the dairy show in connection with the Fair, the exhibitors in that division will have the opportunity o f securing some handsome prizes both in cash and merchandise. The Fair is g iv ­ ing $200 in cash prizes. The Farmers’ Co-operative Cream­ ery o f Payette is givin g a special prize fund o f $25 for a cream test­ in g contest. In this contest the company will buy the cream at fiv e cents per pound above the station price and 20 to 40 pounds w ill be necessary fo r each entry which ought to test between 25 and 35 per cent butterfat. The first prize will be $10, the second $5, the third $3, and the fourth $2, and five addi­ tional prizes o f $1 each w ill be awarded fo r the next five. Lectures on Cream, Too. One o f the authorities from O. A. C. will judge this contest and make the tests, w ill deliver a lecture on what constitutes a good churning cream, a lecture which in itself will be o f great value to those engaged in dairying. J R. Brown, manager o f the creamery, who is arranging fo r this test, declares jthat thousands o f dol­ lars are lost to the farmers through the production of lower quality ^cream, and if the dairy industry Is to grow and prosper it is essential that a higher standard be produced. For this purpose the contest is be­ ing held as part o f an educational campaign in practical dairying. During the races a continuous program of music has been prepar­ ed. The numbers have been divided between the Ontario High School band and the sage brush chorus of sixty voices. The sage brush chorus is a new feature added to the fa ir this year and is sure to be a thriller. This phorus has been practicing for some time, and like the Sage Brush quartette which has been pronounced a huge siccess, promises to keep the crowd in a continuous mood of jollification. Boys and Girls Club Itay; School Childrens Day. The last day of the Fair has been officially designated as Boys and Girls Club day and School Chil­ dren’s Day. On this day all grade school children will be admitted to the grounds free. Complimentary tickets will be mailed in advance to all schools in Malheur county and in Washington and Payette counties in Idaho. Other schools will receive tickets on request. Balloon Ascension. Daily at 2 p. m. in front o f the grand stand will take place the latest stunts in the art o f balloon ascensions and parachute drops. Professor Thierman has been en­ gaged fo r this feature and comes highly recommended. Last Day Specials. On the last day will be staged in front of the grand stand a calf rop­ ing contest which promises to be es­ pecially interesting. A three mile cowboy race will also be stagen as one o f the closing numbers o f the program. Shows and Rides. The Snapp Brothers Shows and Rides have been contracted fo r the up town and evening entertainment.
