SUGGESTION TO TOWN COUNCIL t TAX PAYER MAKES A FEW BUG- GB5TIONS HOPING TO WARP OFF HIGH WATER. » 4Ua. . . of Lie on 14, 6 east Malheur be the property the de- and aking. righit, pro- mbrins name ison, by known mar- id for if as and ieet. made thereof weekly !sa, Mal- sue- ibl loa th the order Biggs, d eu- ay of 81.50 NYSSA, MALHEUR COUNT!, ORB (¡ON, FRIDAY, MARCH 31, HI22. LOCAL A N D PERSONAL ; Mr. Editor: If you will allow me a small space in your paper I would like to put forth a suggestion on the pro posed dam that the town Council are considering on putting in the Wilson ditch. As I understand It, they propose putting in a dam in the ditch just s little ways above where the town pumps are located. No doubt that would be fine to protect the pumps, but that would back the water up In the ditch above the dam and the flood water would flow out and cause damage to other peoples’ prop erty above the dam, which would probably cause them quite a little trouble. There Is quite a eellng among the people that we are bound to have exceedingly high water In the Snake river this season, and that the town needs protection from this hlgl water. For the protection o f the pumps and more particularly the protec tion o f the town as a whole; why not make the dam at the head o ' the Wilson ditch, just south o f the railroad bridge on the Homedale branch. There is plenty of dirt there handy an d it would not cost any more to build the dam there than It would anywhere else on the ditch. Another thing too, the Town Council could take the matter no with railroad officials and they would probably make a fill across the ditch where their bridge is now for their own protection. A dam or a fill there I feel would be a great protection to the whole com munity. I take my hat o ff to the town council, I am not trying to dictate to them, but just offering a sug gestion.
