Mrs Florence Lane 69. late a
resident of 3015 Pacific Avenue
Forest Grove and formerly a
longtime resident of the Verne
ma area, died at the Fores!
Grove community hospital Jan
nary 23rd following a illness of
the past several months
Funeral services were held at
the Fuiter Mortuary Cha pc-1
Vernonia. Saturday January 26
at 2 30 p m The Rev jack
Carlson pastor of the Evangel­
ical Church of Vernonia con­
ducted the services with Lodge
Rites being under the auspices of
the Mt Heart Rebekah Lodge of
Vernonia Interment was at the
Venonia Memorial Cemetery
Florence Lane was born M ar­
ch 15. 19W in Glendale Arizona
the daughter of George and
Martha Ever Hartzell They
later lived in California Kelso
and Bellingham before coming
to Vernonia where her father
was the minister of the Evangel
ical Church in Vernonia She
graduated from the Vernonia
High School
She was m arried to Clyde
McDonald in Vernonia on June
26. 1924 and of this union a
daughter Mrs Thomas Jear.
Schoenhemz was borr. With the
exception of two years they lived
in Vernonia until his death nere
m 1943

Messing April 16. 1945 in Forest
Grove and they lived in Vernonia
until his death"m 1961 Mrs Lane
lived in Vernonia until 1968.

ber 3. 1971 and they lived at their
present home since that time
Surviving are her husband

DeWitt 82. a many year resident
of the Vernonia area was held
Saturday January 26th at 1 p m
in Fuiten Mortuary Chape! in
Vernonia with the Rev Jack
Carlson officiating Mrs Lloyd
Thomas served as the organist
Committal rites follow«! with
interment being held in the
Vernonia Memorial Cemetery
Lela Blanche DeWitt was
born. January 5. 1892 in Jerry
City. Ohio, the daughter of
Charles C and Alice Hamshire
Harned As a young child she
went to live with her Aunt and
Uncle She attended schools in
California and went to Stanford
University and received her
teachers certificate
She was united in m arriage to
Harlev A DeWitt May 2. 1913 in
Riverside California .After their
m arriage they moved to Wheat-
land Ferry near Salem. Oregon
In 1931 the family moved on to a
farm near Keasey near Vernonia
DeWitt proceeded her in death in
June 16 1966 In 1960 the family
moved to Vernonia In August of
1972 she moved to Pasco. Wash
ington to live with her son
Mrs DeWitt died January 21st
following an extended illness in
Pasco She is survived by two
sons and one daughter. Mrs
Charles Alice Brown. Red
mond Washington. Theodore
DeWitt of Vernonia and Donald
DeWitt of Pasco Washington
Also surv iv ing is one sister Mrs
Olive McMahan and 13 grand­
children and 13 great-grand
children

and family of Seattle. Washing
ton visited his parents Mr and
Mrs Frank Resnick in Mist
over the weekend
Mr and Mrs Chuck Aber
netby and family of Whidbey
Island Washington visited her
father. Ray Mathesion in Mist
over the weekend
Mr and Mrs Rov Kvser and
Doug were in Longv iew on
Wednesday, and later in the day
they were in St Helens
Mr and Mrs Fred Larsen and
Dennis visited Mr and Mrs
Willard Garlock last Saturday

While in Portland. Mrs Hansen
visited with Mrs Libel, and Mr

Mrs Kujula stayed over the
weekend with Mrs Hansen, and
Saturday attended Mrs Mills
funeral and returning to Port
land on Sunday afternoon

w eeks ago our goal seemed very
distant I have always had a lot
of faith in people and felt that we
could raise the money for the
machine but that it would take a
long time We are over the

sight I am still at a loss of
