Mrs Sylvia Falconer was held at
the home of her sister Mrs Nell
Thacker or Sunday It was
revealed at the dinner that it was
the 47th wedding anniversary of
Mr and Mrs Falconer Other

Stowell of Buxtor. and Mr and
Mrs Wilbur Thacker
Nell Thacker was sur­
prised recently by a visit from
Mr and Mrs Paul Stipe who had
lust returned from Puertc Rico
where be was stationed with the
Sea Bees Mrs Stipe is the
former Patty Rosser They are
now stationed at Port Huememe.

is hospitalized after a fall in
which sne fractured two bones in
her back Her doctor reports she
is doing well but will be in the
hospital for a month or more
Mrs McDonald moved to Ver­
nonia in 1920 and lived here until
going to Portland in 1972 She
would love to receive cards from
all her old fnends

George Snyder
George F Sny der 36-year-old
resident of 730 S.E. 24th. Hills­
boro. died January 17 at a
Portland hospital He had heart
surgery last October and was
hospitalized for additional su r­
gery at the time of his death
Funeral services were held at
the Fuitet. Mortuary Chapel
Hillsboro Monday January 21 at
11 a m Rev Henry Brown of
Wcwdburr. and Rev Jam es Kim
sey of Hillsboro conducted the
services with Dick Thompson

Memorial Cemetery with Lodge
rites under the auspices of the
Moose Lodge No 247 of Hills

George Sny der was born at
Orleans. Nebraska on November
5. 1937 the sor. of Nellie Shaver
and the late Carl A Snyder He
came with his family to Verno­
nia .n ¡945 and attended grade
and high school in Vernonia and
after graduation worked at the
Oregon American Mill in Verno­
nia He later lived ten years in
Lebanon, where he w orked in the
U 5 Plywood Mill there and then
eight, years ago moved to Hills­
boro Since living in Hillsboro he
has been a television repairman
working lor Sears at Swan
Island
Mr Snyder was a former
member of the Vernonia Chris­
tian Church a member of the
Moose Lodge No 247 at Hillsboro
and had been an outdoor man
enjoying hunting fishing and
motorcycle riding
He was m arried to Danna
Harlan or. September 23 1955 in
Portland who survives at the

I am not a resident of Vernonia
now but lived in that commun'ty
many years My parents moved
up Rock Creek in 189« and as
Mrs Clive A Mills lived ui
Vernonia near fifty years Our
children were born and grew up
there We had no ambulance
part of the time no doctor So
now I am past 90 years, so am
glad to send a little check to the
Trauma Fund

helping hand

they bought the store and post
office at Mist and lived in the
building and operated the store
and was Postm aster there until
he retired m 19+8
Mr Bndgers then moved to
Vernonia and resided there for
twenty-fiv e years and last Sep
tember moved to his present
home at 3624 23rd Avenue lr.

Mr Bndgers w as a member of
the Vernonia Christian Church
and had serv ed as an Elder m
the Church for twelve years He
was also a life member of the
Clatskanie Masonic Lodge which
he had been a m ember of since
1926 He w as also a member of
the Royal Arch Mason s in St
Helens, of the Tancred Com
mandry and A1 Kader temple of
the Shrine
Surviving is his wife. Mrs
Janet Bndgers Forest Grove
and a number of nieces and
nephews three of which they
raised from childhood they are
