the Satterlund Nursing home
They found him feeling good and
in good spirits.
Mr and Mrs E T Johnston
spent Sunday in Portland at the
Lloyd Johnston home They all
attended church, and also had
baptismal services for their little

were services at the Catholic
Church for Joe Richardson who
received his first Holy Com­

This past weekend the Path
finders of Vernonia attended the
annual Pathfinder Jamboree,
held this year near Madras
Nine pathfinders from Ver­
nonia under the direction of
Earnest and Wanda Kiethly
made the trip and met with
about a thousand other Path
finders from around the state,
and made a very good showing,
taking a First Place blue ribbon
on camp appearance
This
award was the more outstanding
in that it has not been the policy
to award a F irst Prize to a unit at
their first Jamboree
We are proud of our Pathfin­
ders Their enthusiasm and w ill­
ingness are most encouraging
At the present they are at­
tending the class on drying foods
held by Portland Community
College and gaining some val­
uable and interesting inform a­
tion and experience

Northern Region Oregon Jaycee State vice-presi­
dent. bet that he could bent Bob Canon, Ver­
nonia Jaycee president. In three events daring
the Jamboree. Al. who resides In Hillsboro. lost
the het and on September 11 he pedaled his
bike from the Hllliboro Jaycee R ail to the V er­
nonia Jaycee Halt—a distance of 35 miles. Here
he Is greeted by the winner, Bob Canon, as he
finally reaches Vernonia City limits, his trip a l­
most complete.
