Vickie Hemeon
Returns Home
From Europe
Vickie Hemeon returned two
weeks ago from a two month
visit and sight-seeing trip to
Europe.
Her first leg of the trip was
taken by charter flight out of
Vancouver, B.C. to London. A
week was spent there and in
Scotland Among the highlights
were watching the changing of
the guard at Buckingham Palace
and attending P icidilly Circus.
Traveling through Germany
she visited a former Vernonia
High School classmate, Danny
Elton at Mainz He is stationed in
the arm y there. While in the area
she met five girls from Montana,
Washington D C and Iowa and
traveled the rest of her trip with
them, with the exception of the
last two weeks.
At Munich they saw the Ol
ym pic Grounds and went
through the famous beer
brewry Lowen brau, the largest
pub in Europe Holds a thousand
or more people at a given time.
In Paris a tour was made
through the famous art museum
“ The Louvre" and saw the
"Mona L iza " and other great
works The famous E iffel Tower
was visited. At Vienna, Austria
they watched the world famous
Lippizan Stallions.
She was greatly impressed
after seeing the sculptor, M i
chelangelo's greatest work of the
perfect man, "D avid,” during
their visit to Florence, Italy.
Beautiful weather was enjoyed
during the one and one half
weeks spent on the Islands of
Majorica and Ibizia, located on
the southern tip of Spain The
Automium and Mannekin-Pis
was visited at Brussels, Bel
gium.
Many more famous cities were
visited among them Copenhag
en, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Ma
d rid . In n isb ru ck, Luzerne,
Frankfurt, and Oslo.
During her Eureopean trip she
traveled by Eurailpass and
train. In all the 12 countries she
traveled. Flam, Norway im p
ressed her the most and hopes to
go back for another visit next,
summer Upon a rrival flight
back at Vancouver, B.C. she was
met by her folks. M r and Mrs
Bud Hemeon, Mist.
An odd coincidence happened
enroute to the airport to pick her
up. While working their way
towards the airport for nearly
11 i hours they observed a young
lady and older couple walking
rapidly towards that direction
After several several miles of
inching forward they came upon
them again and decided to see if
help could be given them It
turned out their car had broken
down enroute to the airport so
that the older couple could take a
flight out to their home at Mainz,
Germany. The Hemeons’ daugh
ter had visited Mainz during her
European trip
