Burton W. Silcock, director of
the Bureau of Land M anage
ment, Departm ent of the In te r
ior, recently presented checks
am ounting to «40,735,698.45 to re
presentatives from Oregon’s 18
O&C counties.
The money is paym ent to the
counties for their share of the
revenue from tim ber sales on
revested Oregon and California
Railroad grant tim berlands in
western Oregon. The paym ent
represents the counties' share of
the revenue collected during the
eleven-month period from July
1, 1972 to M a y 31, 1973. A final
accounting of additional funds
due the counties from June col
lections w ill be made in August.
This y e a r’s paym ent is seven
m illion dollars greater than last
y e a r’s. The increase is p rim a rily
because of higher sale prices for
western Oregon tim b er this
y e a r.
Columbia County’s share of
O&C funds is «839.155.39.
