Lee Vaughn, counselor for the
Columbia County Juvenile De
partment, recently received his
Masters Degree in Law Enforce
ment (Counseling) from the Uni
versity of Portland and by doing
so. he helped put the county in a
unique, and enviable, position
Columbia County is one of the
very few Juvenile Departments
in the entire country where all
counselors hold masters de
grees
Vaughn joins fellow counselor
Rich Wood and Department
Director Graham "Tux" Tewks
bury in holding the prestigious
degree
Director Tewksbury notes that
the additional degree by Vaughn
should add more overall exper
tise to the department Tewks
bury goes on to say, "We are
proud of the degrees held in our
department, and now our next
goal is to add additional coun
selors to provide better county
wide service than we are now
able to offer because of our
manpower shortage.”
Vaughn. 26. is a graduate of
Central Washington State Col
lege where he earned his mas
ters. He has been with the Co
lumbia County Juvenile Depart
ment for the past 16 months and
spent tune prior to that as a case
worker in the Children’s Ser
vices Division.
