First Son Arrives for Marion Grant Family NATAL - PITTSBURG - Mr. nnd Mrs. Marion Grant are the parents of a baby boy born March 2. He weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and has been named Douglas Allen. He joins two sisters Judy and Beverly. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ike Dass of Mist route and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Grant of Silverton. Mrs. E. Grant is spending the week here assisting with the new baby. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Veere Hershey were in Portland Friday on busi­ ness. Larry Oblack went to Astoria Sunday for his National Guard training. Mr. and Mrs. John McLeod and sons David and Joe of Yamhill spent a recent Sunday with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Orin Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Max Oblack ac­ companied by Mrs. Robert Kyser and three children were in H ill« , boro Thursday. Basketball Playoffs Attended by Several Mrs. Ilda Place and Barbara of Clatskanie accompanied the Fred Larsons to the ball game in Port­ land Friday evening. Barbara also attended the Saturday night games. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Nordstrom accompanied Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Johnston and boys to the ball game in Portland Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Larson and Susan spent the week end in Port­ land taking in the ball games and visiting with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Clemens. Darrell Baker has been employed for some time at the Freeman ma­ chine shop in Portland. Mr. and Mrs, Vick Berg went clamming both Friday and Satur­ day evenings but didn’t have too much luck. Lyle Wilson of Jefferson was an overnight visitor that night and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Dale of Astoria were short time visitors Monday. Mrs. Nettie Cox and Mrs. A1 Cavanaugh were dinner guests of the Martin Hansens Sunday after­ noon. It was in honor of Mrs. Cox’s birthday. The minutes of the special meet­ ing of February 25, were approved as read. Miscellaneous claims were ap­ proved. Mrs. Ralph Endicott, represent­ ing the Goble Extension Unit, met with the court concerning the im­ provement of a portion of Anliker road; increased traffic has created a need for oiling. The court took it under advisement and will refer this matter to the roadmaster. Sanitarian Guy Beachler met with the court concerning drainage problems in various parts of the county. Because of soil conditions, no more building permits will be issued for certain areas along Sykes road. A check in the amount of $3306.28 was received from the State De­ partment of Forestry for timber sales. An offer of $1000 was received from Lloyd E. Wright for Tax Lot 24 located in Section 38, T8W R4W of W.M. which is 39/100 the acre in SWV4 of SW'4 as recorded in deed book 123, page 55. Another offer of $1600 was received from Mrs. Mary Kivisho for the same property. Both were taken under advisement. The February report of the park commission was received. Commissioner Clark moved and Judge Seawright seconded that the court sign a quitclaim deed as re­ quested by the State Highway Commission, relinquishing mineral rights retained by the county to the commission on the Kenneth R. Dibblee property purchased by state for highway construction. A letter of appreciation from Boy Scout Troop 241 of Clatskanie was received. Minutes of the January 11 meet­ ing of the fair board were received. Nothing further coming before the court, the meeting was ad­ journed until March 9, 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tupper and Sandra were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Grund at Yam­ hill Sunday. Later they drove to Sheridan and visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hyatt and four children. It was Douglas and Diana’s first wedding anniversary and also the 25th anniversary of Art and Marie. They also took in the ball games Friday and Satur­ day nights. Then, on Sunday after­ noon the Ron Trenholm, Ted Bell­ ingham and George Bellingham families and Diana Bellingham all gathered at the home of Art and Marie Bellingham for visiting and refreshments. Francis Nordstrom returned home recently from a two week vacation trip. He went to California to visit with relatives, then he and his brother Tommy went to Mexi­ co.
