Attorney for Estate ASSOCIATION 5t5c Law Bars Pets From Markets Buster, Rover, Gyp, Prince— they all may be well behaved dogs and just like members of the fa mily, but the Oregon Department of Agriculture says the one place they must not go with the family is into the grocery store. It’s not just that some people who do not have pets are fussy about having them around food they plan to purchase, but the fact that under inspections of the grocery stores made by the depart ment pets are not allowed in food markets. Joe Gray, assistant chief in the dairy and consumer services di vision for foods, says the depart ment has received some complaints from persons who have seen dogs in stores. He points out that not even a small dog being carried in the arm s or in a basket is permitted in food m arkets. The departm ent is also on the alert for any produce outside the store that is sitting on the ground, for under sanitation requirements it must be high enough that it can not be contaminated by animals.
