Members were glad that Noble Grand Marie El­ liott had recovered from her ill­ ness sufficiently to be present and preside over the meeting. Prior to the meeting, the drill team practiced for an hour on the drill to be presented at district convention this spring. This pro­ cedure will be followed each meet­ ing night with members of the drill team meeting at 7 p.m. All officers were present for the meeting with the exception of two courtesy officers. A member of the Odd Fellows lodge, Albert Tandy, was present and reported that his wife, Zona Tandy was in the Providence hos­ pital in Portland for more tests to try to determine cause of her trouble. Mrs. Nels Hogberg was reported to be quite ill with flu and Mrs. Elliott reported that her grandson. Bobby Brady, was in the Forest Grove hospital with an at­ tack of asthma. It was announced that the next social committee meeting will be March 2, Wednesday, at the home of Mrs. Henry Anderegg at 8 p.m. Following the business session, games will be played. Attention was called to the pe­ destals at the officers’ stations that had been beautifully covered with paper resembling wood by Frank Lentz and Pete Wiederkehr. The improved appearance was compli­ mented. Mrs. Charles Minger, chairman for the Bloodmobile visit, announc­ ed that the unit would be here February 23 and she asked for assistance from some of the mem­ bers at the visit as well as for donors. A contribution was made to the Heart Fund. Following the meeting, delicious refreshments of chips and dips, and assorted crackers were served by Noma Callister, Janet Bernar- di and Hazel Bergerson. An extra highlight of the evening was a birthday cake baked for Catherine Lentz by Marie Atkins which was placed before her replete with lighted candle. Another cake baked by Mrs. Bernardi was placed be­ fore Mrs. Faye Davis whose birth­ day was that day. She shared hon­ ors with several others sitting near her whose birthdays were in the following few days. The next regular meeting, pre­ ceded by practice, will be Febru­ ary 24. Mrs. Hemeon composed a poem for the occassion. The Happy Cooks met February 1 at the home of Mrs. R. Higgin­ botham. The second year members made whole wheat and raisin muffins while the first year members did a cooking crossword puzzle. While the muffins were baking, the girls gathered together to talk about fruit and how to peal and section an orange correctly. The muffins and orange sections were served for refreshments with giraffe cake and lime drink. Several of the Happy Cooks at­ tended the 4-H officers training meeting in St. Helens and report­ ed to the other members what they learned and what was accomplish­ ed. Mist Ball Team Tops Vemonia MIST—The Mist grade school boys played the Washington grade school fifth graders here at the Mist gym Saturday in a return game. Mist won 20-30 with John Crawford high scorer for the local team. John Jackson of Mist reported February 8 at San Diego for a tour of marine duty. John graduat­ ed with the class of 1965 at Ver­ nonia high school. Mrs. John Crawford and Mrs. Wayne Kyser were in Vernonia Monday to attend a sewing class at the West Oregon Electric, given by Mrs. Margaret Allyn, county agent.
