CHRISTMAS COMMENTARY A CHRISTMAS THOUGHT From (he Vernonia Ministerial Association “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11. As night settled in on the country side of Judea that first Christmas night, little did the mass of people gathered in Bethlehem to pay their taxes, or the shepherds that kept their flocks, realize the eternal ef fect this night was to bring. The Innkeeper had room only in the stable for the Christ Child. The crowd that passed by had time only for their own problems that pressed upon them. The business men of Bethlehem were interested in the profit that would come their way because of the influx of people into the city. Strange that today, almost two thousand years later, we look about us and see almost the same picture. Especially in our larger cities, we find the same crowded conditions, people rushing to and fro concerned with their own problems and inter ests, the merchant that is looking Family Visits With Relatives NATAL - PITTSBURG — Mr. and Mrs. DeeVeere Hershey accompan ied by her mother, Mrs. Albert Childs, drove to Portland Thursday and called on Mr. and Mrs. Mike Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Noble Dunlap were in Portland Monday and visited Mrs. Lillie Henderson. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Davis enjoyed Thanksgiving at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis and family at Forest Grove. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis and four sons of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. H. Haupert and five daughters of Tillamook. Mr. and Mrs. DeeVeere Hershey were Friday evening callers at the Kenneth Tupper home. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Davis were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Morford. Mr. and Mrs. John McLeod and family of Yamhill were also visitors of the Morfords. AT THE CHURCHES forward to the profit the season and crowd will supply. We wonder if it is not easy for us to forget the Christ Child and have no room for him in our busy schedule of the season? Perhaps we have taken time to give unto him a small insignificant place as the Innkeeper gave him the use of his stable. Was it because the only peo ple that were quiet and still were the shepherds that the Angels chose them to proclaim the good news to? Have we missed the meaning of Christmas if we have gifts for ev eryone else but have no gifts for Him, the Son of God? God gave un to us his only begotten son as a gift that first Christmas. How we need to stop in our rush and hurry, and ask ourselves: “What have I given Him in return for his wonder ful gift?” Nazarenes to Hear Speakers > CLUB MEETS FIRST AND THIRD MONDAY EACH MONTH 6:30 P.M., FIRE HALL Charley Hickman, President David Banta, Secretary 3-66 A.
