Oertionia Eagle THURSDAY, FEB. 11, 1965 7 Owners Go To Convention Mr. and Mrs. Bert Brunsman and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brunsman, own ers of the Coast-to-Coast store, have just returned from the organization's 35th annual convention. The four-day session of general and group mer chandising meetings was held at the Sheraton Motor Inn February 7-10. Keynote of the convention was: ‘‘Programs for Progress - Progress for Profits.” Group discussion em phasized the new lines, new items and advanced product knowledge. Many displays of spring and summer merchandise were shown. Winter Best to Mark Wet Spots Winter is a good time to mark the wet spots in your fields and to make plans for draining them, according to Andy Pavelek of the Soil Conser vation Service. These wet areas re duce crop yields, delay planting time and are hazardous when farm equip ment gets stuck trying to cross them. The soil in wet areas is compact and more difficult to till. The best time to install tile drain age is in the late spring, summer or fall when the ground is firm. Cost share payments from the Co lumbia county ASC office pay about one-half of the cost of installing most tile drains. Technical assistance for surveying and laying out the tile systems is available through the Soil Conservation Service office. The American Heart Association and its -’ffiliates have channeled about 100 million Heart Fund dollars into research since the first Heart Fund campaign in 1949. Be ready with a generous contri bution when one of your neighbors, serving as a Heart Fund volunteer calls at your home during the week end of Heart Sunday, February' 21. »»»»»»»»»»»» YOUR JOB (NOTE: This column is written weekly and published by this news paper as an educational and public service. A N S W E R : The Neighborhood Youth Corps is established as a work-training program under Title 1-B of the Economic Opportunity Act, and is a part of the U. S. Department of Labor's Manpower Administration. The NYC will make it possible for youth 16 through 21 to stay in school, return to school if they have already left the classroom, obtain work ex perience and develop work skills if they are out of school and out of work. Young men and women em ployed in the Neighborhood Youth Corps will be assigned useful tasks which otherwise would not be per formed in government agencies and non-profit organizations. Their work will result in better services and im proved facilities for the public bene fit. More information about NYC may be obtained by contacting any Public Employment Service office or the Neighborhood Youth Corps, U. S. Dept. of Labor, Washington, D. C. 20210.
