Several 4-H club members outstanding in their fields were se­ lected by the judges. Margaret Ma- gruder of Clatskanie was selected as the outstanding girl in home eco­ nomics to receive a 4-H club sum­ mer school scholarship for 1965. Heather Higgenbotham of Vernon­ ia, a second year 4-H club member, received honorable mention for her outstanding performance in all home economics activities. She received the highest score in the home eco- nomics department but was not old enough to be selected to go to 4-H club summer school. She receivea many wonderful compliments from the judge for her charm, poise and skill in preparing and serving a lun­ cheon for four people in the Meal Preparation contest. Kathy Cox of Scappoose was se­ lected the outstanding club member in the 4-H clothing division and was awarded a 4-H club summer school scholarship for 1965 from the J. C. Penney store in St. Helens. Charles Stevely of Warren was se­ lected the grand champion 4-H live­ stock showman of the fair and was winner of the Maple Meadows 4-H club trophy for the best fitted ani­ mal; Margaret Mag ruder was cham­ 8 THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 1964 pion showman in both beef and swine divisions; Dick Magruder was cham­ pion 4-H sheep showman.
