Don’t put too much confidence in the fellow who boasts he is level-headed—wait until you find out at what level he leveled off. I want to express my appreciation to the people of Colum bia County for your support even though I came out only second best. I was working hard when sudden circumstances developed to cut my chances of winning, percentage wise, practically to the impossible. With only a mere chance left. I worked hard for this chance. I worked hard and clean on honest issues and for the representation of good government. I enjoyed talking to many of you people and I only wish I could have talked to all of you. I believe in this American system of ours. I believe in this two party system of ours. We are a competitive nation of competitive people and both of these great party's exis tence must be perpetuated. One would be useless without the other. I thank all of you. M. L.
