    Pilgrims Start
Year's Program
The Pilgrim group of the Pio
neer Girls* cjub met at the Boy
Scout cabin Wednesday afternoon
with 17 present.
They learned formation as it
was in the pioneer days, which is
a pattern for the present club
work.
A new column was formed with
Susan Hanson as pilot and Mary
Ann Odam, charioteer. They
chose Pansies for their name.
Games were played during ac-i
tivity period.
Bible exploration was led by
Mrs. E. J. Ruff. Several scrap
books were made by the Pilgrims
last year and were loaned to Mary
Ann Steele who was confined to
her home with a broken leg.
The girls have been asked to
bring used greeting cards to make
more scrap books to give chil
dren hospitals.
Mrs. Smith: “Where did that
naughty little boy of yours get
that gash on his forehead?”
Mrs. Brown: “Your little angel
hit him with a brick.”

AT THE CHURCHES
More Help Needed for
Bible Club A ctivities
The Happy Hour Bible clubs,
under the sponsorship of the Child
for Christ Crusade of Portland will
be starting soon. This is not a de
nominational work and there is
a need for Christian women to
work as hostesses and teachers.
The same is true of the Pioneer
Girls’ club work.
There will be a meeting Sun
day at 2 p.m. at the Vernonia
Bible church and women willing to
help with this work are asked to
attend.
EUB Circle to
Hold Sale Soon
Eleven members answered the
roll call at the EUB circle meet
ing last Wednesday, Sept. 19. Four
guests were Mrs. E. J. Douglass
from Salem, Mrs. Ruth Hartman
from Oklahoma, Mrs. L. E. Ellis
and Mrs. B. L. Mitchsll from Mist
route.
Mrs. Harry Junken and Mrs.
Martin Rainwater served a delic
ious desert luncheon and Mrs. Ma
bel Graves gave a challenging de
votion from the Reader’s Digest
which was written by Norman
Vincent Peale, an article no parent
can afford to miss.
The group planned a rummage
sale to be held October 11 and 12,
Thursday and Friday. Hostesses
for the October meeting will be
Mrs. Lona Weidman and Mrs. Ma
bel Graves. The devotions will be
given by Mrs. Art Gardner. The
meeting will be held at the church
at 1 p.m., October 24. Anyone in
terested is invited to join the group
in Christian fellowship.
