land recently to attend the wed
ding at the First Methodist

bride, Nadine Ellis. Mr. Swanson

is assistant to the school superin
tendent of the school system of
Portland. Stevie Downs was one
of the ushers and Ione Downs
was on the reception committee.

Mr. and Mrs. George Bellingham
and children and Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Bellingham and family who
were at Merwyn Lake near
Woodland, Washington. Medford
was the visiting place for Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Larsen and family for
the 4th week end. They went
there to visit relatives.

er, Mrs. Ann Bender of Timber

and family spent July 4 in Hills

Crawfords Visit with
Scotts in Vancouver
BIRKENFELD — Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Crawford and family went
! to Vancouver, B.C. over the 4th.
Mrs. Crawford’s mother, Mrs.
Murdina Morrison returned with
them to her home there after a
six weeks stay here with her
daughter and family. The Craw
fords visited George and Zella
Scott while in Vancouver. Just
before the Crawfords were ready
to leave, Mr. and Mrs. Wally De-
Smet, missionaries to Patagonia,
who are now in the states on fur
lough, arrived to spend a few
days with the Scotts. Wally De-
Smet and family were here in
Birkenfeld this spring and spoke
at the Birkenfeld Community
church and also at the Mist
church. The Crawfords have their
niece and nephew, Nicky and
Stella Hrones from Hayward,
California visiting with them this
summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones and
daughters, Marilyn and Marjorie,
Mr. and Mrs. Gus Wanstrom and
Hank Robinson went to Colum
bia park for a picnic on the 4th
and also went to Jantzen Beach.
In the evening they attended the
races and took in the fireworks.
Mrs. Elsa Richardson had Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Reister from Scap
poose, as house guests at her
beach home in Seaside recently.
The Reisters used to live in Bir
kenfeld a number of years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kyser
and family spent the 4th with
their daughter, Mrs. Dale Leino
and child in Clatskanie.
Mrs. Fred Udey visited her
daughter, Ruth Burkholder in
Portland Wednesday. The Udeys
spent a few days over the fourth
at Seaside in their trailer house.
Mrs. Udey left for Seaside Sun
day and Mr. Udey joined her
Monday evening. They returned
Tuesday evening. They visited
Lawrence Jepson in Seaside and
report that he is doing fine and
is looking good after his recent
surgery.
Robert Berg was in Portland
Wednesday. He had dinner that
evening with Mr. and Mrs. E. L.
Haff and family. Also there was
Valborg Anderson, Robert’s sis
ter-in-law, who had just arrived
from New York. Valborg was un
able to be here for the funeral
of her father, Alfred E. Ander
son of Colton, who passed away
from a stroke in May. She ar
rived now to spend some time
with the family. Her plans are to
spend a few days in Birkenfeld
also before returning to the East.

Fall Causes
Injury to Knee
RIVERVIEW — Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Brauner visited their sons
at Kettle Falls, Washington last
week. While there Mrs. Brauner
fell and pulled the ligaments in
her left knee and will spend the
next few weeks on crutches. Two
of the granddaughters came home
with them and are helping with
the work this week.
Mrs. Emery George of Portland
visited her sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Buckner
and father, C. N. Rundell Thurs
day through Sunday.
M. C. Brewer had the misfor
tune to get a big toe badly cut in
the lawn mower. He went to Bea
verton Monday to have the stitch
es removed.
