for a retirement home. The Mey
ers have purchased a place near
North Plains and will move there
about the middle of August. Mrs.
Meyer is employed at Tektronix.
Mr. Meyer will continue to work
here in the logging industry for
the time being.

were two of his sisters, Mrs. F.

Sacramento, California.
Mrs. Murel Knight spent the
July 4 week end at Medford with
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Culbertson
and family and enjoyed swim
ming with them in the new pool
they had just built at their home.
She brought Julie and David
home with her for a two weeks
visit with her and the other
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Har
ry Culbertson.
Jim Davis is attending summer
school sessions at University ot
Oregon, Eugene, and will be home
about the middle of August.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Snyder and
son, Bert, took their other son,
Floyd, to Portland Monday of last
week where he boarded a plane
for Washington, D.C. He will
work for the defense department
in the electrical engineering de
partment.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lindley of
Garibaldi spent several days here
last week taking care of their
property on A street.
Mrs. Ann Bender and Mrs. Julia
Davis drove to Fort Stevens Sun
day to join the Bert Fleskes fam
ily who were camping there for
a most enjoyable day at the lake.
Sunday evening, Roy Larson and
his mother, Mrs. Miles Larson
from Walnut Creek, California,
were visitors of Mrs. Davis. Mrs.
Larson flew up from California
that day to spend a week with
her son who is working for the
Crown Zellerbach corporation at
Seaside. Saturday guests at the
home of Mrs. Davis were Mr. and
Mrs. John Hatfield of Lebanon,
former Vernonia residents.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bush. Mar
tha and Delbert enjoyed a ten-
day vacation in California the
first part of July. They spent the
week end of the Fourth visiting
relatives in the San Francisco
area. They also visited their son,
Jerry, at Fort Ord after which
they went to Carmel, Yosemite
National park and other points of
interest. Enroute home they vis
ited Lasson National park News
from their other son, Ricky, who
is now stationed at a missile base
in New Mexico, is that he has
been having some enjoyable trips
into Old Mexico.
Last week. Mr. and Mrs. George
Koski and family vacationed with
a trip of about 1000 miles through
Central Oregon, Among places
they visited were Klamath Falls,
Crater Lake and the Peterson
Rock Gardens near Bend.

Nola Brady of Portland states
that although she is hospitalized
and cannot attend the Jamboree
this year, she will be thinking of
Vernonia at that time and hoping
it is the biggest and best one yet.
Mrs. Brady had surgery on her
knee July 8 which was made ne
cessary by torn cartilage caused
from a bump Her daughter. Mrs.
Bill Ritz and family called on her
last Friday and found her making
good recovery. Friends may write

guest at the home of her uncle
