Mis. Carl Davis Is Pythian Head Mrs. Carl Davis was elected as most excellent chief of Vernonia Temple, Pythian Sisters at the meeting held Wednesday of last week. She will succeed Mathillde Bergerson. Other officers who were elected to serve with her are: Silvia Wolff, excellent sen ior; Marie Shafer, excellent ju nior; Norma Silver, manager; Cora Lange, secretary: Erma Chance, treasurer; Catherine Lentz, protector; Otilie Hecken- liable, guard; Lucille Hickman and Virginia Hogeberg. trustees: Edith McFarland, installing offi cer; Launee Cousins, pianist; Les- ta Garner, staff captain and cor respondent. Public installation will be held jointly with th“ Knights of Py thias Monday, December 30. Ro bert Wyckoff is the incoming chancellor commander for the knights and will succeed Charles L. Johnson. A five dollar donation was made to the Vernonia Christmas treat fund. More canned foods and money were brought in for the Pythian home and these were taken to Vancouver Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller. ‘ The money was earmarked for die tetic foods for patients who need them. Following the meeting, the Christmas party was held in the dining hall where a gaily deco rated tree in the center of the room was surrounded with gay packages from secret pals. Names were revealed but new ones were not drawn since the group de cided to follow other ideas next year since many were unsettled as to future plans. Those who had birthdays in October. No vember and Dec°mber were also honored and delicious cakes and dixie cups were served by Faye Davis, Margaret Cone, Edith Mc Farland and Ruth Vealey. The hostess prize was drawn by Silvia Wolff who was present for the first time since her return from Germany. A practice for installation will be held Friday, evening. Decem ber 27. Sell it with an Eagle Classified. i Bartlett-Michener Vows Given At Hillsboro Church December 1 Miss Margaret M i c h e n e r, daughter of Mrs Tressie Mich- ener of Portland, was married December 1 at 3:00 pm. to James Roger Bartlett, son of Mr and Mrs. Vern Bartlett of Hillsboro in a very pretty cere mony at the Methodist church in Hillsboro which was per formed by Rev. C. Gene Albert son, pastor of the church. For her wedding, the bride wore a white brocade gown with sweep train and a finger-tip veil of nylon held with a pearl tiara. She carried a white cascade bou quet of snap dragons, carnations and roses centered with a white orchid. Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Mrs. Ellis Wool dridge of Hillsboro and maid of honor was Miss Jennie Sheplt y. Both wore light blue taffeta dresses made princess style, waltz length. Bridesmaids were Judy Taylor and Shirley Wool dridge, nieces of the bride who wore dresses of china blue made like those of the honor attend ants. All four carried fan shapid bouquets of lavendar and pink carnations. Elsie Bartlett, sister of the groom, and Madeline Wooldridge, niece of the bride, were candle lighters and wore dresses of light blue. Flower girl was Mari, lyn Goddard who wore ice blue taffeta and carried a basket of snapdragons, carnations and white roses. Marilyn is the daughter of the formzr Darlin ■ Aspinal of Vernonia. Best man was Barry Eastham and ushers were Bob Bartlett, brother of th? groom; Jerry Waltzlawick and Don Briden- lucker. After the ceremony, a recep tion was held in the church par lors after which the couple left for a two weeks honeymoon trip to California, after which they will be at home at 2105 N. W. Nehalem Club to Award Afghan Saturday P.M. The December meeting of the Nehalem Social club was h“ld last Wednesday evening. Decem- br 11, at the Masonic Temple with Lottie Swanson. Edith Roediger and Jane Shaw as hostesses. During the short business meet ing. it was announced that the afghan presentation would be made Saturday afternoon, Decem ber 21 at 2:00 pin. at Strong's Electric. Secret pal names also were drawn. Following adjournment, a Christmas party was enjoyed which was topped off by the serving of hot mince pie and pumpkin pie. Natal Grange Seis Date For Christmas Program Natal Grange has set Friday, December 27, as the time for their annual Christmas program and gift exchange The regular meeting night falls on Christmas so the change was made to the more acceptable night. The next regular meeting for the transaction of business will be January 8. The Friendly Pinochle club has had two meetings in December including one at the home of Mrs. William Shafer December 6 and the Christmas party held last Friday. December 13 at the home of Mrs Art Davis. At the December 6 meeting. Mrs. Joe Vanderzunden held high score, Mrs. M J. Bjornson. sec ond and Mrs. Jim Cox, consola tion. Last Thursday, the Christmas motif was evident in decorations and Christmas card score cards. Mrs R. L. Thompson ended play with undisputed high score after piling up over 1000 points in ev ery game played. Mrs. Vand*i zanden held second high and con solation went to Mrs Shafer. Special feature of the aftei noon was a gift exchange.
