YESTERDAYS FIVE YEARS AGO From The Eagle. October 30. 1952 Ed Condit was named as ele mentary school principal to fin ish out the term. A group of Germans who were touring this country to observe labor-management relations tour ed the Oregon-American mill and Columbia Tree Farm Tuesday. | Olivia Brickel was fined for wearing anklets that matched Shorty Monaco for wearing a necktie and Thurman DeHart for having rolled up only one pants leg. Tabulation made at the end of fire season showed 22 fire» in Columbia county during 1947 burning over 8 acres. $7500 was lost in logging equipment. West Oregon Electric reported start on construction of 70 miles Lyman Hawken Sr. was ap pointed to the West Oregon Electric board of dir-ctors and sworn in as secretary.
