Birthday Surprise Is Given for Mrs. McNair Dick McNair took advantage of the beautiful warm weather Sunday to arrange a surprise birthday party for Mrs McNair in the yard of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gibson Sr The Gibson’s grill which had b^en put away when bad weather came was gotten out for the cooking of hamburgers. Members of‘the Friendly Pin ochle club met last Friday at the home of Mrs. Jim Cox for a Halloween party at which excite ment reached its peak when Mrs. Art Davis held 1500 trump Her partner was Mrs. Claude Gibson Sr. With that hand, Mrs. Davis cinched claim to high score Mrs Joe Vanderzanden held second high and Mrs. William Shafer was really beset by the goblins that wouldn't let her get out of the consolation spot. At the coffee break, the host ess served the cookies baked in folds of aluminum foil which had .won the $15,000 prize in the recent Pillsbury contest. The club will meet next at the home of Mrs. R L. Thompson November 8. G.G. Club Adds Two Members The monthly meeting of the G. G club was held Friday, Oc- tober 25 at 8 p.m at the home of Mrs. Terry Brady. Two new members were welcomed into the club, Mrs. Calvin Bass and Mrs. Welcome Rumbaugh A small baby shower was held for Mrs. James Brewer at which she received many nice gifts. Business of the evening includ ed election of officer. Mrs. Ri chard McNair was elected presi dent and Mrs. Terry Brady was re-elected as secretary-treasurer. Other business of the evening was the exchanging of names for Christmas. Those attending the meeting were Mrs. Larry Brady, Mrs. Don Cline, Mrs. Ellen Hanson, Mrs. Richard McNair. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. James Brew- er the last Friday in Novembe Church Lists Special Events The First Christian church has announced a change of time for their Sunday evening service for the winter months. Beginning on Sunday, the Christian Endeavor will meet at 5:30 p.m. each Sun day and the regular evening preaching service will be at 6:30 p.m. Next Sunday morning, as a part of the 11:00 o’clock service, there will be a presentation of the memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Alene Stubbs. Two special meetings are 1 scheduled for this week by the I church. Friday evening is the regular monthly church night and will feature a pot-luck din ner at the church at 6:30 p.m. for which the meat and potatoes will be furnished and those at tending will bring salads, des serts and other accompaniments The monthly business meeting will follow at 8:00 o’clock. Saturday evening. November 2, the Keystone class will gather at the parsonage at 430 North street at 8:00 pm. for a Hallo ween party. Last Saturday evening, 17 young people of the church held a Hallowe'en party at the church. Marriage Vows Exchanged At Longview Saturday Marriage vows were exchanged last Saturday evening', October 26, in the chapel at the First Christian church at Longview by Mrs. Barbara Landers of Ver nonia and Harold W Weigand of Woodland. Washington. Rev. J. E Whitaker, pastor of Un church officiated. The couple was attended by Mrs. Donald Tiffney, sister of the bride, and W E. Lueptke.
