What's Cooking 4-H Club
Plans Demonstrations
The What’s Cooking 4-H club
held its twelfth meeting at the
home of the leader, Mrs. Earl
King, April 22.
They discussed the paper drive
and the Nehalem Valley fair days.
Partners were chosen and to­
pics for the demonstrations at
the fair were selected.
They are going to try to do
credit to their leader for all the
hard work she has put into teach­
ing them. They had cookies and
kool aid for refreshments.

Heart Attack Takes
Life of Wendell West
Funeral services for Wendell
W. West of Scappoose were held
in St. Helens April 15. Mr. West
was born August 18, 1904 and
passed away April 11, suffering a
heart attack while working at
th" creosote plant in St. Helens.
He worked* for ‘several years
for the Columbia county road
department and part of the time
in the Vernonia district. He was
the brother of Kenneth (Hap)
West who preceded him in death.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Rho­
da McKay and brother Wesley
West of Scappoose, four niec"?
and two nephews one of whom is
Kenneth West on Timber route
The family settled in Columbia
county in 1860.
