wood screws and finishing
nails. The front pieces are
fastened to the shelves but not
to the sides, thus providing
a space for %-inch quarter
round molding. The top is
made of 1<4 by 14-inch lum
ber, and attached so as to
provide a 1-inch overhang on
all sides. Aa an alternate,
hardwood plywood or 1 by 12-
inch lumber may be used for
the top.
Next, make the bar stools.
The sides are made of 1 by
12-inch lumber tapered as
shown. Plane the ends to pro
vide flat edges, both top and
bottom. The foot-rests, side
and seat braces are made of 1
by 4-inch lumber planed on the
upper edges to provide flat sur
faces. Cut the ends of the
foot-rests and side braces at
an angle. Measure a 10 degree
angle on the ends of the foot
rests and a 4 degree angle on
the ends of the side braces.
The seat is a piece of 1 by 12-
inch lumber. Assemble the
stool using wood screws. The
seats may be covered with
foam rubber cushions.

MAKE A RECORD CABINET
A record cabinet, with easy
accessibility, can be built by
the home craftsman using
either lumber or hardwood
plywood.
The base is made of 1 by 2-
inch lumber as shown in the
diagram. Assemble with glue
and 6-penny finishing nails.
Dowel joints and glue are
used to make the aide panels,
shelves, top and back. Use
dowels % inches in diameter
and 1-inch long for the upper
dowel joint of the side panel
and 1*4 inches long for al)
other dowel joints. Use at least
three jointa for the side panels
and back, and two for the
shelves and top.
The sides are made of two
pieces of 1 by 7-inch lumber.
The front edges are cut step
fashion as shown.
The shelves, top and back,
are made of 1 by 10-inch lum
ber. The shelves are cut out
25/32 inches to fit flush with
the sides and to fit on the steps.
Plane the back to fit flush with
the rAr edges of the sides.
First assemble the cabinet
part of the project Then at
tach the base. Use glue and 6-
penny finishing nails.
Hardwood plywood dividers

gram, are made to fit between
the shelve«. Fasten with glue
and No. 16 brads I *« inches
long.

MAKE A MAGAZINE WALL RACK
A wall rack is a handy and
decorative way to keep and dis
play magazines.
The project is made of 1 by
3 and 1 by 6-inch lumber. The
sides, made of 1 by 3's, are 40
inches long. Round the top
front edge as shown. The
shelves, also made of 1 by 3-
inch lumber, are 34*4 inches
long. Use H by 1-inch strips to
keep the magazines upright If
