GEMS OF THOUGHT JOY AND SORROW Sorrow is the harbinger of joy. —Mary Baker Eddy We ask God to forgive us for out evil thoughts and evil temp er, but rarely, if ever, ask him to forgive us for our sadness. —R. W Dale A laugh is worth a hundred gtoans in any market. —Charles Lamb Great joy, especially after a sudden change of circumstances, is apt to be silent, and dwells rather in the heart than on the tongue. —Henry Fielding Laughter is the corrective force which prevents us from becoming cranks. —Henri Bergson Joys are our wings; sorrows our spurs. —Jean Paul Richter Two Adult Sewing Classes To Begin Weekly Sessions Mrs. Marjorie Bassett, homc ec teacher at Vernonia high school, has announced that enough la dies have registered for the even ing sewing classes to warrant di viding them into two groups with one meeting each Tuesday- evening and the other each Wed nesday evening for the next ten weeks. Oregon —"No man can come to Me except God who sent Me draws him and I will raise him up the last day." So said Christ — J oh n 6:44. Good works and noble human character do not count. Only the blood of Christ wipes out the re cord of sin. The saved are to pray that * G o d will draw ths lost to Christ. They must believe that Christ’s blood wipes out their sins, as they receive Him as Lord and Saviour. If your place is crowded, slip out in the evening. Pray as you walk. God rests his program on the prayers of his people. This message sponsored by an Oregon family. 5-37 Meets First and Third Thursdays 7:30 p.m. A F.L. — C.I.O. Grange Officer Demoted To Fourth Place Honor New officers of Vernonia Grange will be in their stations at the first meeting for 1957 Sat urday night, with Alice Weed, master, presiding. In the item telling of her installation she was given credit for being the second woman to hold the office of master but her honor was short lived as it was determined that she was fourth in line. First lady master was Mrs. Emil Messing and it was during her term of office that the pre sent hall was acquired, the stove purchased for the kitchen and the road up the hill to th» hall rocked. In view of the number ol people who corrected the item, her endeavors had not been for gotten or not appreciated. Mrs. T. F. Keasey was second lady master and Mrs. Russell Peterson was the third to hold the position. Order of Eastern Star Nehcdem Chapter 153. O. E. s.
