Vacation School Program Sunday The vacation church school of the First Christian church will present their closing program and commencement Sunday evening, June 17 at 7:30 p m. The vacation school with Mrs. Earl King as superintendent has had an enrollment of 73 and >o far an average attendance of 63. It s varied and interesting pro gram included Bible study, sto ries, songs, handwork and drama tization using the theme, “The Living Bible.” present a dramatization. Conditions in Kauai, Hawaii are very similiar to those in Colum bia county, according to Mrs. Evelyn Giles, executive secretary of the Kauai Tuberculosis and Health association, who was the guest of the Columbia county as sociation Friday, June 1, at a luncheon given in her honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Ridenout of Scappoose, which was also attended by Darrold Proehl, county association president. Mrs. Giles told of the interest of the island people in health con ditions. She stated that for the 29,000 population of the Island, there is a corps of seven health nurses. They do a tuberculin testing program in the high schools and have mass x-ray sur veys. They are also planning a rehabilitation workshop on the island. Mrs. Giles, on the mainland for a month, had attend d the an nual meeting of the National Tu berculosis association. She had asked to visit two counties in Ore gon for the purpose of observing plans and pratices. Columbia county was one of the two select ed.
