Pomona Grange Well Attended In spite of the snowy roads, a;i of the 12 granges of Columbia county were represented at Po mona Grange’s quarterly meeting at Beaver Homes on Saturday, February 4. In addition. Mr. Whi taker. Washington county grange deputy and Mrs. Whitaker, brought greetings from their county. Don Walrod, county agent, ex plained the workings of social security as applied to the farmers. Robert Stevely talked on 4-H work, especially urging poultry and rabbit clubs as desirable. Ray E. Richardson, manager cf the new hospital now under con struction in St. Helens, spoke on the progress of the building and showed plans and explained many things regarding the proposed op eration after completion. The lecturer’s report stressed the need of more youth activities and told of the highway safety contest sponsored by the grange. Mrs. Mane Brown, Pomona home economics chairman, urged women of the grange to take part in the state grange sewing and canning contests. She sail that this is the time to make plans for participating in the county fair.
