December 6, has been designated by the General Mills corporation as Homemaker of Tomorrow ' day and at that time, 3,225 girls from 140 high schools in the state of Oregon will be taking part in tests to sc lect a state Homemaker of To morrow who will compete with winners of the other 47 states and the District of Columbia, to m - lect a national u mnar Four Vernonia high school se niors, Pat Normand. Laura Brew- er. Virginia Johnson and Virginia Ray. will take the 50-minute writ ten test here next Tuesday which will select a winner from each of the 140 high schools for the state competition Each girl who takes the test will receive a homemak- ■ng guide. Each school winner will receive a golden Homemaker of Tomorrow pin and a Betty Crocker cook book The state winner will receive a $1500 scholarship and the run ner-up. a $500 scholarship The state winner’s school will receive a set of the Encyclopedia Britan nica. State winners and the repre sentative from the District of Co lumbia will tour Washington, co lonial Williamsburg and Philadel- phia April 8 to 12 when inter views will combine with tests in determining the All-American I Homemaker of Tomorrow who will receive a $5000 scholarship from General Mills.
