Oregon Tree Farm Area Now Second In Nation Oregon has just passed Wash ington to take over second place among 38 states in the American tree farm program, according to statistics announced by James C. McClellan, chief forester for American Forest Products Indus tries, national coordinator of the tree farm movement. The Oregon total today is 3,- 258,959 acres as compared to 3,- 231,608 acres in Washington state, where the Tree Farm id ‘a start ed in 1941, McClellan reported. Only Texas has more land certi fied as Tree Farm. The T xas total is 3,438,970 acres. Oregon’s current total lists 116 tree farms in the Douglas fir re gion, and 55 in the pine region east of the cascades. Tree farms are private forest lands of any size dedicated to growing timber crops as a busi ness, McClellan said. More than 33 per cent of all Oregon's pri vately-owned commercial forest land is already in certified tree farm status, he reported. FOR Adventists Name Two Delegates C S.
