April 5, the Washington school
champion basketball team, other
members of the basketball squad,
their coach, James Johns and the
other men of the elementary
school faculty were entertained
with a noon lunchibn by the
American Legion Auxiliary as re.
cognition of the splendid record
made during the past season.
Another event in their honor
has been arranged for this Fri­
day evening when_ they will be
the guests of the PEP club at a
skating party.

No. 14 of Hillsboro, attended the
regular meeting Thursday even­
ing. April 7 of Yamhill Auxiliary
No. 6.

one being Lady June Ray of
Vernonia, association guard.

After the meeting adjourned,
everyone took part in a cake
v alk, after which refreshments
of sandwiches, cake and coffee
were served.

Pinochle Club
Has "Egg" Hunt
Members of the Friendly Pin­
ochle club met April 1 with
Mane Shafer for a delicious des­
sert luncheon which was follow­
ed by an afternoon of play. High
score went to Agnes Gibson and
low to Cora Lange.
The club met again April 8
at the home of Marjorie DeHart
for an Easter party. The dessert
luncheon was served at tables
cleverly
decorated . with
the
Easter motif with Easter basket
place cards.
When time came for play, the
guests were dispersed on an East­
er egg hunt for their score cards
which were designed like clev-
erlyerly decorated Easter eggs
and were hidden about the house
which was gay with bunnies,
nests of eggs and oth-r Easter
decorations
Easter prizes were awarded to
Eleanor Thompson for high score
and to Margaret Vanderzanden
Jor low.
The club will play again to­
morrow at the home of Agnes
Gibson in Riverview.
Stamp Club Scheduled
To Meet Friday Night

Card Party Aid
To Uniform Fund
The card party sponsored by
the St. Mary’s Altar society for
the benefit of the high school
band uniform fund will b-' held
Saturday evening in the V.FW
hall rather than in the Parish
hall in order to provide room for
more tables.
The party will begin at 8:00
o’clock and refreshments will be
served, The public is cordially
invited to attend and enjoy the
evening as well as help a very
worthy cause.
