August 16. the need in Columbia Counity is great as well as in other parts of the nation. Columbia Countv has had an advance of $9.600.00 from the national foundation so far this year, and has spent in the county $10,885.00 as of Jane I 30. 1954 | One of the factors that has made the emergency drive neces sary has been the use of the pre ventative vaccines in wide tests this year. If these prove suc cessful it is hoped that the polio epidemics can be stamped out, but now the expense is heavy Locally, one definite campaign for dimes has been started by Ma Vike and the parade of dimes is working its way around the counter This will be given j further boost next Tuesday when she will serve doughnuts and coffee for a quarter between 1 00 and 5:00 pm and paste the pro ceeds on the counter.
