Old Age Assistance Load in County Conforms with Average in State Three-hundred and four per sons receive old age assistance in Columbia county, out of a total ¡4'365 residents who are over 65— almost 15 per cent, which is state average, according to a report on county welfare issued a few days ago by Mrs. Eva L. Tice, admin, istrator. One-hundred and twelve child ren between ages 16 and 18 have complete or partial support from aid to dtpendent children. After age 16, children are eligible (on Uie age factor) only if attending NCtXMll. Eligibility for aid to de fwndent children terminates at ape 18. In addition to the total listed as paid for aid to dependent children, these cases receive $553 from old age and survivor’s in- surance. $235 from absent par ents (husbands) making the total average per person $35. Fourteen . »1 the aid to dependent children grant« include no dependent adult, as the children live with ««datives who have independent tcacome, such as married sisters, aunts, and grandparents.
