Bennett. Mrs. Alfred Blount received word Monday of last week notify ing her of the death of her mother, Mrs. W. O. Scotto, of Donalson ville, Louisiana. Final rites were held Thursday, July 23. A group of Rebekahs from Ver nonia attended the funeral ser vices for the mother of Mrs. Orvel Edwards, held in Hillsboro Sat urday afternoon. Mrs. J. W. Nichols spent several days last week in Longview at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Powell Loggan. Jepsons were baling hay at the Anderson Brothers and the Sam Lousignont place the middle of the week. Harold Ashley has been helping them. John Cahill fell from a load oí hay first of the week. They were hauling bales from the field when four bales on the lop of the load fell off taking John with them. He was pretty well jarred up and scratched, but luckily wasn't seriously injured. Guy, Art and Ted Bellingham, Cecil Elliott and Francis Nord strom were among those attend ing the forestry meeting and sup I per in Vernonia Friday evening. International Woodworkers of America has announced that the northwest regional balloting com mittee |ias completed the tabu lation of the strike ballot. Th? results of the ballot have been sent to all local unions involved. The strike vote lost by 47 votes. However, a number of local unions cast strong strike-action votes. The northwest regional negotiat ing committee analyzed the votes and reached the following deci sion. (a) To refer all original bar gaining points and negotiating au. thorizations back to the district councils and local unions, where no settlements have been reached, to take whatever action they se? fit to complete negotiations. <b) To send out a ballot to local unions having contracts with the Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. recom mending acceptance of the 5-cent per hour increase reached earlier this year between the parties.
