Convention at Medford Attended Rev. and Mrs. H. L. Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lais repre sented the local Church of The Nazarene at the district conven tion and Assembly at Medfoixl Mondav and Tuesday of last week. Mr. Russell, Elder and pastor, represented the church, Mr. Lais the Sunday school, Mrs. Lais and Mrs. Russel, lay delegates for the church. Mrs. E. Hibbs, mission ary president, was unable to at tend. A very spiritual and colorful missionary convention was held and the very efficient district mis sionary president. Mrs. Gordon Olsen, of Eugene was unanimously re-elected. All officers and dis trict secretaries reports were giv en in skit form. Miss Mary Scott, general sec retary of the missionary dept, was the visiting general officer of the convention. Mr. and Mrs. Russell had the honor of her presence for lunch Tuesday. Miss Scott was a prisoner in China during the war. For the 16th year Mrs. Russell was re-elected box secretary. Last year over $2,000 worth of new clothing and medical supplies were sent to missionaries assigned to the Oregon Pacific district. Over $4,000 worth of used cloth ing was sent to schools and child ren’s homes. Born in Barn GEO. N. TAYLOR Portland. Oregon That hour God and Satan bat tled for the soul of a proud New England college woman. She was a Latin and Greek scholar. Daily in chapel, the Bible W’as i 2ad and the church hymns sung. But as to Christ, our Lord, the college had him only as a man—a mere human being like us. Born Again — That night, in an exposition barn, out-fitted with a sawdust trail, in Western Canada, this proud college woman for the first time, learned that Jesus was God and that He came to die for our sins and that He arose from the dead to indwell us with His own in ternal life. Each child of God, born into the eterna family, has his own inner faith. And hers? As she arose to go to the front a new peace and joy became hers that the years have but increased. This bid to turn your life .over to Jesus, the Lord, is sponsored by a family of the county. BY AT THE CHURCHES VERNONIA EVANGELICAL Paul D. Sister. Minister 9:45 a.m. — Sunday school. Mrs. E. E.
