Future Bride Honored At Shower April 11 The home of Mrs. Lola Nance was the scene of a ondal shower honoring Miss Betty Tindall on April 11. Acting as hostesses with Mrs. Nance were Lillian Lusby and Virginia Robertson. Guests who attended the gather ing were: Hazel Shipman, Alice Buckley, Mona Meier, Theresa Schmidlin, Margaret Berndt, Gwendolyn Blanton, Jean Stuve, Ethel Blackburn, Edith McFar land. Essie Nance, Jennie Lusby, Bissie McClernon, Virginia Hil dreth, Patty Beil, Eva Poynter and Margaret Hays. Those sending gifts but not present were: Celeste Poetter, Fern Kullander, Mary Christen- sen. Macile Grady, Ellen Hanson, Florence Messing, Mrs. Clyde H idreth, May Nelson, Dorothy Walker, Myrtle Cox, Marguerite Thomas, Mildred Brady, Eileen Cagle, Nonna Knightwine, Aileen Johnson and Neoma McMullen. Miss Tindall will be married May 3 to Lyle Hildreth. First '53 Flower Show Due Mon. BIRKENFELD — The Nehalem Valley Garden club will have it’s first flower show of the year at the Birksnfeld gym April 27. April 16 at which time the group screened new of ficers. Results of the election were: Mrs. Robert Lindsay, presi dent; Mrs. Bill Horn, vice-presi dent and Mrs. Don Campbell, sec retary-treasurer. Mrs. Harry Culbertson reported on “Art in Oregon.” Mrs. Dar- rold Proehl will entertain at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Heath for the May 7 meeting and Mrs. Sam Hearing, Jr., will have charge of the program. The Friendship circle met at the home of Blanche Millis April 16. A very lovely dinner was prepared by the hostecs, Blanche Millis. The members were very happy to have Pearl Wilkerson with them for the meeting and also the little guest, Lynn Ben- net. A short meeting was held and Ella Woods received a birthday gift from 1 her Circle pal. It was moved and seconded in favor of giving $5.00 towards the fund I for the new ambulance. Chapter Observes Date of Wedding The w’edding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Massing was ob served Wednesday evening at Nehalem Chapter. O.E.S., with a hilarious “shot-gun" wedding. The bride and groom, Florence and Emil Messing, were attended by: Sam Hearing, who gave the bride away; Glen Hawkins, minister; Florence Brunsman, matron of honor; Pete Brunsman, best man; flower girl, Stona Serafin; brides maids, Dorothy Sandon, Eva Hear- ing, Lottie Swanson, Mary Lara- more, Elsie Sherman and Hazel Smith. Special music was a re- cording by Red Foley. A gift of silver was given the Messings by the chapter. Approximately 25 Masons and their wives were special guests that evening. They were greeted with an addenda welcoming them. Delicious assort;d homemade pies were served by the refresh ment committee. The tables were representative of spring with spring flowers and tiny umbrel las. Hospital to Get Finished Afghan Mrs. Hamp Roberson, Sr., en tertained the P.E.O. Sisterhood Tuesday evening, April 14. Mrs. Evelyn Heath displayed the finished afghan that the group has been making. It will be taken in to the Veteran's hos pital in Portland for their use. Mrs. Judd Grtenman gave a very interesting report on the luncheon she attended in Port land in honor of Dr. Blanche H. Dow. Dr. Dow is president of Cottey College in Nevada, Mis souri, a college owned by the P.E.O. Sisterhood. After the meeting was adjourned the members participated in a quiz on the Constitution and By- Laws. The next meeting will be with Mrs. R. D. Eby on April 28. Mrs. Ben Brickel will have the pro gram. They were joined there by Knights from Avon Lodge at St. Helens. After the meeting adjourned the guests were treated to a clam chowder feed. Making the trip were Bruce Watson, Fred May, Frank Birt, Oscar Weed, Oren Weed, and Edward Garner. Harding Lodge will meet next Monday evening.
