He expected to be in the hospital several weeks and will wear a cast for time time after being released. Jim Davies is driving the school bus for W. A. Davis during the time the latter is recovering from a recent operation. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Ruhl were at Bend and Prinville during the past week end where they saw Peterson’s Gardens and Mrs. Chris Nicar at Bsnd and the former Laura Smith and her mother at Prineville. On their return trip they saw Mrs. Maude Space at Salem and Dick Fletcher in the Good Samaritan hospital, Port land. Dick Fletcher is in Good Sa maritan hospital recovering from a recent lung infection. Here Saturday evening for the Gamer-Hahmeyer wedding were Dr. and Mrs. M. D. Heater Explosion Causes Damage Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hall of Springfield, former residents of Vernonia, had the misfortune of having their oil heater explode Monday, April 6, causing con siderable damage to their home. Mrs. Hall ¿was able to put the fire out, suffering burns on both hands but not seriously. She had just left the living room a few seconds before the explosion, thereby narrowly escaping serious injury from flying glass and burn ing oil.
