G. Nibler, county ex tension agent. Tree planting stock from the state-federal nursery is available at low cost to farmers and other private forest owners for wind break, reforestation. Christmas tree, and post plantings, says the county agent. Sale of seedlings is limited by regulations to farm or forest planting. Trees recommended for plant ing in Western Oregon are Doug- las-fir. Port Orford cedar, Pon derosa pine. Cluster pine, Black locut, and CascarS. Winter or early spring planting is the gen eral rule in Western Oregon. Nibl.r says the trend is toward increased planting of Douglas-fir for reforestation of logged areas in Western Oregon where natural restocking has proved slow or unsatisfactory. This type of plant ing is recommended for such areas and may double the value of the land in less than ten years. Orders are not accepted for less than 50 trees of a single species or for orders of less than $1. Broadleafs are a little cheaper than conifers, and all trees come postpaid. Order blanks, price, and addi tional information on trees avail able can be obtained from the county agent office or by writing the State Forestry Department, Salem. Does your family enjoy stuffed eggs for lunch, feathei y cakes and muffins, creamy cus tard puddings and lemon m -r- ingue pies? Now is the time to serve them. Egg prices are usually lowest during the winter season and there are pl.nty of high quality eggs. The tradition of serving eggs for breakfast is very sound nu tritionally. That’s been shown by recent research on different tvp;s of breakfasts. Eggs for breakfast are a wonderful help to stave off that tired, hungry feeling before noon.
