Mrs. James H. Smith spent last
Friday at Beaver attending the
Three-Links club. Mrs. Smith
has been a Rebekah member for
some time.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Davis are
moving back to Vernonia again
after a year’s absence while he
attended mortuary school at Los
Angeles. He graduated Decem­
ber 14.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bogart of
Timber route traded homes with
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spichalask of
Ocean Lake December 18.
H. O. Hansen. Timber route,
while working on his wood lot,
fell a tree Friday. While trying
to turn the tree to a better posi­
tion the limb broke throwing him
onto a stub of stump. The sharp
point gouged his side breaking

from Portland visited the Dave
Marshall’s Sunday.
Mrs. Dave Marshall attended
the annual Christmas party of the
Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity
Mother’s club in Portland at
Mrs. Lutton’s.
The Claude Norris family and
Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Hartwick
and Susan visited relatives in
Longview Sunday.

Mrs. Claude Norris and Mrs.

visited Mrs. Laura Junken in
the Physician and Surgeon’s hos­
pital where she is recuperating
from an operation. They also
visited Mrs. Jane Mann in Good
Samaritan hospital where she
has been since April 1 with a
broken leg.
Mrs. Geo. Robertson has been
in ill health for the past two
weeks, but is better now.

Mr. and Mrs. Bart Makinsiar's
children, including grandchildren
and great grandchildren, from
Kelso, and Longview, Washington
visited them last Saturday and
Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Makinster
left Vernonia Monday morning
for Portland and from there for
SanDiego, California to visit a
niece and family for three
months.
Nola Brady arrived in Ver­
nonia Friday evening and plans
to remain until Saturday morn­
ing visiting. Wesley Brady will
be here Wednesday evening to
act as Santa for the Neighbors of
the Woodcraft Christmas party.
He will also be Santa for the
Portland
Traction
company’s
Christmas party.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wing of
Portland spent Saturday, the 60th
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. T. C. Biggs, at the Bigg’s
home. The two couples have
been friends for 55 pears.
Paul Naviaux was taken io
St. Vincents hospital Wednesday
where he was operated on Fri­
day and is now reported on his
way to recovery.
R. A. Simmons returned home

weeks in St. Vincent hospital
in Portland.

of Portland spent the week end
at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. D. P. Spofford.

the A. D. Lolley home from Sun­
day until Tuesday of last week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Graves
will leave here for Gold Beach
Saturday to visit at the home of
their son, Morris, and family for
the Christmas holidays.
Miss Mary Anne Clark, who
has been attending Portland Sec­
retarial college, has gone to work
in the rehabilitation office. The
president of the college is Mrs.
McCall, former resident of Ver­
nonia.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvsv Johnson
were here Tuesday of last week
to spend the day visiting his
uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs.
George Johnson.
Harvey for­
merly lived in Vernonia where
he attended school. He has re­
turned to duty in ths navy and is
stationed now on Whidby Island,
Washington near Seattle.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Steele of
Clatskanie were in Vernonia last
Friday for a short time to shop
and also attend the banquet of
members of the Columbia county
Keep Oregon Green committee.
Mrs. M. Grunden's brother, Al­
bert Bohnstehn, from Shreveport,
Louisiana has moved hers to
make his home.
Betty Dunn from Portland was
a Tuesday night guest at the
Walt Olinger home.
Flu Case Cause of
Illness at Treharne
TREHARNE — Carl Snyder
was sick with the flu all last
week.
Rome Whitmire went back to
work Monday after a siege of
the flu. '
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fletcher
and children from Castle Rock,
Washington visited her parents,
the Rome Whitmires, Saturday.
Mrs. Art Odam visited the
Walkers Sunday and Mrs. Bert
Tisdale visited Mr. Walker on
Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Sam
Beck were in Forest Grove Wed­
nesday.
