The woman from off the street washed Jesus feet with her tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Then she anointed His feet with costly ointment. Simon the self-righteous host looked on and reasoned in his mind—“If this Jesus is a holy man why does He let this woman touch Him? Jesus read Simon's secret thought and open ed His mouth to say that the woman acted from a heart over flowing with love. Then Jesus turned to the woman to tell her He had forgiven her sins — BIBLE, Lk. 7th. COST HIM HIS LIFE — Yes— To forgive the woman cost Jesus His life. For Jesus was God Himself, walking here on the earth and against Him she had sinned. So Jesus took her sins and died for her and cleared her page. And He died for you also. Then being God He arose from death and the grave to indwell you with Himself and power you into new days and new ways. Yes—Believe in Christ and be :aved—Acts 16:31. Then—Judg ment Day out. The Vernonia V.F.W. opened their basketball season at the high school gym against a strong C.I.O. quintet from Forest Grove in a game packed with thrills on Wednesday, November 30. Good defensive ball playing was exhibited on the part of both teams, but the Vernonia boys gained the nod, 25 to 24. Coach Red MacDonald of the Vets floored a team featuring plenty of speed and apparently well distributed scoring power, Lyle Galloway being high-point man with eight. Additional games have been scheduled by the Vernonia V. F.W. and high hopes are held for a good season as the boys have made a fine showing in pre season practice. This heading is getting to be a habit with the Vernonia rifle team. They were hotter than a firecracker last Friday night when they visited the Mt. Hood rifle team, and won with a score of 959 to 922. This is the highest score the local club has ever shot and was shot in the dreaded positions of kneeling and prone. Tod Bowerman was high with the outstanding score of 195 out of a possible 200, followed closely by Ben George with 192 and Ber nard Lamping 192. After the match was finished the team was treated to sand wiches, donuts, cake and coffee. Following are scores of the ma ich: Tod Bowerman 195 Ben George 192 Bernard Lamping 192 Ralph Aldrich 190 Milton Lamping 190 Clyde Lamping 187 Harold Peterson 187 Bill Nichols 186 Robert Lamping 181 Melvin Snook 157 Total score of five highest 959.
